I am looking for information on John Sullivan Sparks who was born abt 1886 in Gate City, Scott Co., VA. His mother Polly Ann Sluss and his father Morgan Sparks were not married. Any information would be helpful and thank you in advanced for your time. Thanks.... Deb

I have been redoing a lot of old pictures my GrandMother had. There are some with the Sparks family name in them. There is one that has Mr. and Mrs Sullivan Sparks and family? It has the parents and 7 children. I also have pictures with the name, Mary Edith Sparks, Claud Sparks, Ruth and Myrtel Sparks. I have no information on them other then the pictures. Let me know if these are any of the ones you are researching? I would also like to know about them since my Grandmother had the pictures???

I would be interested in any info. that you may have on this John Sullivan Sparks.My wife grandfather was also John Sullivan Sparks.I will not give birth/death dates at this time,as i will have to spend time to look them up.I too feel one shold be accurate when persueing this.The J.S.Sparks mother was also a Sluss who married a sparks from Tacmo va.this is same J.S.Sparks in the pictures you spoke of.

John Sullivan Sparks, whos mother was Poly Sluss&father was MORGAN SPARKS.I will not say that they were not married But i know no marriage licenese for them does not exist in wise scott russel&washington counties.Nor in Hawkins & Sullivan TN.
I am married to J.S.Sparks grandaughter.there are two of his children still living.I would be happy to share any info that i have.
Poly Sluss also gave birth to BAYS NICHOLS of Wood VA.Then she moved to BEAN STATION TN.Where she married a Delise.i may be wrong on the spelling,but i can find the correct spelling.E.sparks should be able to supply more info.There are desandant of this marriage still living.some if not most,live in BEAN STA.& MORRISTOWN TN.

I have recently gotten ahold of E. Sparks thru her niece B. Jones. She was most helpful and even supplied some pictures of Polly Sluss and her husband Domonic Delias. According to my relatives Polly and Morgan were never married. Earle Bays Sloan was born a short year after Sullivan and was adopted about 4 yrs later by the S.J. Nickels family according to a grandson of Earle's. Polly married Domonic Delias in Jan-1896 in Scott Co., VA per her marriage license. They moved to TN sometime after 1900. I am researching the Sluss line of Southwestern Virginia. The information I have on Polly Anna Sluss is as follows:
She was born 29 Jul 1866 in Scott County Va. She died 19 May 1948. She had a son on 03 Apr 1885 she named Charles Wilimington Sluss. His father was Conley Trig Bishop. She never married Bishop and gave the boy her maiden name. She had a child by a man with the last name of Sloan. This son was Earle Baize Sloan who was born on 14 Mar 1890. She had two children with John Morgan Sparks. They were John L Sullivan Sparks and Bessie J. Sparks. John was born in 1891 and Bessie in 1893. She married Domenic Delias on 19 Jan 1896 and had 6 children with him. They were Rosa "Rosie" Kate, Wiley Corbet, Marcus N., Oscar D., Harry G., and Gale O. Delias. I have birth dates on all these and extended family info. I would appreciate any photographs you may have of this family or any of Sluss families you might have. Thanks for replying. I have recently been in contact with a daughter of John Sullivan Sparks as well as a son of Gale Delias who has supplied me with quite a bit of information on John Sullivan Sparks & the Delias family.

You mentioned you have Charles Wilmington Sluss's father as Conley Trig Bishop. What information due you have on Conley Trig Bishop and how it states that he is Charles Sluss's father? Charles Wilmington Sluss is my husband's grandfather and I would like more information on his father's family. Also due you have the dates of when Polly Sluss's parents died as well as information on her sisters Martha, Nancy, Hilda, Susannah and her half sisters Anna and Margaret Jane. I also have several photos of Polly Anna Sluss Delias and her family. Let me know where to send them.

John L. Sullivan Sparks was born Jul-23-1891 in Scott County, VA. He married Myrtle Starnes sometime in 1913. He died on Jan-01-1983 in Fort Blackmore, Scott County, VA. They had 7 children: Anna Ruth, Claude Andrew, James Ellis, Harold Eugene, Mary Edith, John Sullivan Jr and Paul Cecil.

Anna Ruth Sparks was born on Apr-26-1914 in Scott County, VA. She married Henry V. Taylor. She died on Apr-28-1996 in Fort Blackmore, Scott County, VA. Claude Andrew Sparks was born on Aug-01-1916 in Scott County, VA and died on Oct-16-1997 in Beaverdam, Hanover County, VA. James Ellis Sparks was born on June-26-1918 in Scott County, VA and died on Jul-03-1995 in Kingsport, Sullivan County, TN. John Sullivan Sparks Junior was born on Mar-31-1926 in Scott County, VA and died on Oct-09-1998 in Davenport, Scott County, Iowa.
