DUFFIELD, Va. - Grover
Cleveland Collins, 81, (formerly of
Fort Blackmore) died Wednesday (Oct. 17, 2001) at
Holston Valley Medical after a lengthy illness.
He was born in
Scott County, Va. on July 2, 1920 and was the son of the late Bill and Arlene
Collins. He retired from
Westmoreland Coal and was a farmer.
Mr. Collins was a member of Valley Creek Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister,
Fannie Akers.
Surviving are his wife,
Brilla Begley Collins,
Duffield, Va.; daughter, Nancy
Gibson, Church Hill; son-in-law, Ralph
Gibson, Gate City, Va.; special granddaughter, Jessica Hull, Church Hill; sister, Bonnie Cook, Lebanon, Va.; brothers, Charlie Guy,
Michigan and Willard Guy, Maryland.
Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Colonial Funeral Home,
Weber City, Va.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Walker
Darnell and the Rev. Otto
Gibson officiating.
The Lee
Smith Singers will provide the music.
Burial will be at the
Starnes Family Cemetery in Clinchport, Va.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
