I'm trying to confirm lineage for Thomas Bishop Haydon (b.1795, d. 1854) of Northumberland County/Richmond County. I have his father as John Haydon (b.1770) and his mother as Winifred Davis (b.1772), married 1794 in Richmond County. I'd like to know more about either or both parents/grandparents and in particular if (and how)this Haydon line connects to the Thomas Haydon II and Anne Kirke (?) line from Northumberland/Lancaster Counties, circa 1698.

Are you looking for Richmond, the capitol of VA and an independent city? Or Richmond County? I think there's also part of the city in Henrico County. There are boards for each.

I'm in possession of a pretty cool publication called Wicomico High School 1908-1953, from the 1921 publication of the student boy the Phoenix "A Reunion of its Friends".

It has a good bit of info about the school, including lists of graduates from the high school as well as teachers. There are even some early group photos.

Alfred Unkle Sturtevan
b.25 May 1926 VA
d. 03 June 1977 in Durham, NC in the Vets Hospital
and then transported to Richmond for burial (according to his obit.).

He believes he is in a veterans cemetery.
Is Richmond Natl' Cm the only Vet Cm in Richmond? Is there a searchable data base for your cemeteries?

Any info will be greatly appreciated.

Just wanted to mention that you have posted this on the Richmond County message board, not the message board for the City of Richmond. Richmond County is about an hour from the City of Richmond and is not adjacent to it. You may already know this.

You may get better information about the City of Richmond on that message board, though the previous post gave you good information.

I am searching for living descendants of E.J.C. Wood. Known as Charles, he was a founder of Aiken,SC. Several historical markers in Aiken Co. refer to him. He was also known as Dr. Wood, an honorary title given him since he opened the first pharmacy in the county.

Mr.Wood also kept a diary about his family. Excerpts from this diary appear in the book "Wandering in the Wilderness" His son, Ellie (Elliot) Wood published these excerpts. Ellie was a Virginian.

I am interested in the entire diary. Can anyone help? Are there any Wood descendents out there? Pls reply to this thread or to my email address andybrandon33@hotmail.com

There is a very interesting court record online for Greene County, Ohio by William D. Bell and wife concerning McAdam Rev. War bounty land. I found it by googling Charlotte McAdam Taylor. It is in 3 sections with a total of 27 pages. It does spell out several generations of MCADAM, TAYLOR, NUTT, BELL families. These were part of the Duncan research files of the Genealogy Bug.

Wakefield Farms-the only one I know of is in Westmoreland County. It is the Birthplace of George Washington. I will have my cousin that lives in emmerton to help me out.

Do you have a copy of Peter's will? I descend from John W. Bryant who married Eliza Ford in Shelby Co. in 1825.

I believe that John is the son of Raleigh who left a will in Shelby Co in 1814.

findagrave.com is a wonderful site..
George and Barbara are regular walkers who will more often than not go out an get the picture you need..
I'm a longtime regular on the site and have found many family in that cemetery and surrounding ones..
its all about recording who is there in the cemetery and no cemetery is complete so if you are absolutely sure they are there it is possible to make a memorial page and get one of the Volunteer walkers (probably George or Barbara) will try to get out there and get it for you.

I am searching for information on Peter BRYANT and his family. Peter was born in Richmond County, Virginia on or about March 4, 1760. He served in the Revolutionary War and then migrated to Shelby County, Kentucky where he died December 9, 1833. I believe that his wife's name was Nancy. If you have any information on these folks, I would be glad to share with you.

I am looking for the same information myself. I will let you know if I find anything. So far I have done a lot of historical research and have a hypothesis, but have no proof or source documents. I am wondering if he was involved in Bacon's Rebellion, and since he died in 1677, he might have been on the losing side and might have been executed by the then governor. I think maybe this is why he has the title "Captain" in some documents. Hope I find something soon.

Thank you. I am trying to determine if George was a son of Madison C. Meadows and Mary Ann Garten Meadows (if the Mary A. in the 1900 census is Mary Ann Garten Meadows). The marriage record for George and his second wife Bertie Keatley lists the parents of George as M.C. and M.A. Meadows.

Madison C. Meadows left Summers County, WV, where Hinton is located, and moved to Virginia and later Mt. Airy, NC. He was married a second time. The 1900 census says that the Mary in the household of George was a widow but I believe that to be incorrect (unless she married a second time after her marriage to Madison).

I have located George and Charles in Alleghany County, VA in the 1910 and 1920 census' but not in the 1930 census. I am looking for any information that will tie Charles, and George, to Madison and Mary Ann Meadows.

Turkey Hill is Off the History Hwy, the property is owned by the Crowleys. Going toward Lancaster from Warsaw, you will pass Jerusalem Baptist Church on the left. It is between 8466-8512 HistoryLand Hwy. on the right.

Did some digging. Found in charles WW1 draft. reg. he was bornin Hinton WV. this is also found in his WW2 draft.
In the WW2 draft it shows him living in Norfolk Va, with nearest relative bring Blanche Meadows of Fredericksburg Va
shows he was a pipe fitter for the Railroad.

In the 1900 WVA census shows Charles with family.
George age 28 born 1871 WV.. worked on RR
Occa 25 b 1874 VA
Charles 4 WV
Mary 63 b. 1836 (grandmother)

Thaddus Bryant and Ann Phillips (widow) bond 21 December 1809. Richard Bennehan bondsman.

Thaddeus Bryant and Courtney Loury, bond 7 September 1818. Warner L. Tapscott bondsman.

Both marriages were in Richmond County, Virginia. Could this be same Thaddeus mentioned in will below ?

He was mentioned in will of - Jesse Bryant, North Farnham Parish; Will; Will written October 22, 1778, Will proven 3 November 1778. Son- Thaddeus plantation whereon I now live, if he has no heirs, to son Richard; John Nash to care for children at 10 pounds (Per Year) and to have use of their estate at 6 pounds per year until the heirs shall arrive at maturity; ex: Friend Rawleigh Bryant, Gabriel Smithers.
Page 346. Jesse Bryant inventory 24 April 1779.

This may be too much to ask, but I'm try to get photos of two tombstones at Hollywood Cemetery. They are Samuel H. Meredith and Reuben Meredith, and they are both in Section L, Lot 127. I've been searching for their burial places for years and have just today discovered that they are at Hollywood. Thank you.

Refdesk.com and various other sites which you can google..... have reverse address lookups and reverse phone look ups. Sometimes you get a good hit on them sometimes not. Refdesk.com uses whitepages.com
