The funeral of Edgar C. Cannaday, 90, of Augusta, Ga., and formerly of Bassett, who died June 26, 2009, in Augusta, will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Faith Baptist Church in Bassett. The Rev. John Shelley will officiate. Burial will be in Henry Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the South Chapel of Bassett Funeral Service.

Cannaday was born in Patrick County on Feb. 3, 1919, to Charlie Mac Cannaday and Florida Griffith Cannaday.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine Cannaday; a son, Larry Cannaday; two brothers, Odell Cannaday and Eugene Cannaday; and two sisters, Attrice Underwood and Geneva Craddock.

He was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Bassett and attended Faith Baptist Church in Augusta.

Surviving are a son, Leon Cannaday of Ferrum; a daughter, Sherry Murdaugh of Graniteville, S.C.; three brothers, Timothy Cannaday of Bassett, Gilbert Cannaday of Martinsville and Buford Cannaday of Stuart; a sister, Ermagene Fulcher of Fieldale; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
