Mrs. Darlene Irma King Martin, age 49 of Stuart, passed away Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at the Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

She was born in Danbury, North Carolina on March 13, 1960, and was preceded in death by her father, Richard King, Sr. and one brother, Ray Allen King.

She was a member of First Christian Church where she served as treasurer, usher and video camera operator. She had attended Patrick Henry Community College for nursing, and had worked at Stuart Flooring and Ten Oaks.

Mrs. Martin is survived by her husband, Terry E. Martin of the home; one daughter, India Aretha Martin of the home; her mother, Mary Pauline Pilson King of Stuart; four brothers, Richard King, Jr. of Stuart, Larry G. King of Martinsville, Benny L. King of Stuart and Lawrence S. King of Stuart; and two sisters, Barbara Houchins of Stuart and Shirley K. Hodge of Martinsville.

Funeral services for Mrs. Martin will be held Friday, July 3, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Rev. Roger Hagwood officiating. Burial will follow in the West Liberty Cemetery.
