George Roby Roberson, 86, of Stuart, died Sunday, December 26, 1999, at Patrick Community Hospital in Stuart.
A Westfield, N.C., native, he was the son of the late Sam Jack and Ellen Franklin Roberson. He was also preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and was a member of Samaria Holiness Church where he was a deacon.
Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Helen Hill Roberson of the home; three daughters, Jennie Foddrell of Stuart, Linda Dula of Lenoir, N.C., and Beverly Fulton of High Point, N.C.; three sons, Elder Melton Roberson and Nathaniel Roberson, both of Stuart and Anthony Roberson of Martinsville; two sisters, Effie Cockram of Mount Airy, N.C., and Mallie Allen of Elkin, N.C.; one brother, Ralph Roberson of Stuart; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, December 28 at Samaria Holiness Church by Bishop Tony Carter. Burial, with military rites by the Patrick County Veterans' Memorial Honor Guard, was in Patrick Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers were Jonathan Roberson, Chad Dula, Brian Roberson, Paul Hatcher, Carlos Roberson, Dewayne Roberson, Kelvin Fulton and James Hill.
Women of Samaria Holiness Church served as flowerbearers.
Arrangements were by Moody Funeral Home in Stuart.
