We would absolutely love copies of any photographs you may have of the house and/or occupants as it was when the Mountcastles lived there. Since we're restoring it, this would be especially helpful as to it looked like. Recently discovered that the front porch was added in sometime in the mid 1970s.
Our neighbors, William and Margaret Mountcastle, informed us that we have Roxbury, as they reside in Little Roxbury. After visiting the cemetary where the G.W. Mountcastle is buried, it took a little bit of deductive logic to figure out who was laid next to him, a Fayette Mountcastle. At first I thought that perhaps G.W. had remarried after the death of his wife, but then figured out that Adeline LaFayette Mountcastle must have been known as Fayette during her adult life. Also, I came across a document noting that Colonel John Hunt Christian was born at Roxbury, 29 Sept, 1774. It goes on to say that the property is now owned by G.W. Mountcastle, while Benjamin Mountcastle owns the adjacent property across the road (Little Roxbury?). It certainly is thrilling uncovering the secrets of the home's history, bit by bit.
