William Lewis is my 4th great grandfather that was a elder at New Valley Baptist Church. Benjamin John is a brother to my Martha John that married William Lewis.

My other grandfather, Thomas John, JR.

Will of THOMAS JOHN, Loudoun Co., Virginia

Loudoun County VA Will Book A, page 220
Written 13 July 1769
Proved 11 September 1769

About the year 1763 one William Lewis from the Great Valley in Pennsylvania, settled in the neighborhood. In 1764 [2 years after ? for Thomas from Newbritain settled in these parts] Rev. Joseph Thomas came and settled in the same neighborhood. He soon set up a meeting and baptized one Richard Williams, John Thomas and wife, Benj. John, Mary George, Eleanor George and William George, James Jones. These nine [8] persons were, Jul. 18, 1767, constituted into a distinct church. No remarkable event since. Their first Minister is the present: Rev. Joseph Thomas.

I have never been able to trace them back to the Welsh that came to America. William Lewis and Benjamin John removed to Washington Co., Va where William died in 1784. William was also a witness to the will of William Jones who died in Loudoun County in 1771.
