Looking for family of Edward Beck born 11/23/1821 in Belpre, Ohio. Died about 1907 or 1909 in Indianapolis or Worthington, Ind. His sibs were Tabitha Beck Price, about 1810, Vivian about 1812, Samuel abt 1817- died in 1901 in Hamilton Co, Ind- his death certificate says his father was Edward. John- lost in the Civil War. I have read an early history of Taylor Co , Iowa- think this is our family, Says the Becks and Prices lived in Va, Green Co, Ky, Belpre, Ohio, 1850s Owen Co, Ind and some on into Iowa. Says Edward was born about 1877 and married Elizabeth Smith in Va( she died young) perhaps he had a 2nd wife. Edward 1777 had following children- Tabitha Beck Price married Aaron, Nancy to a Williamson, Elizabeth died in infancy, John and Vivian. There is no mention of Edward and Samuel. However, I feel this author is in error and this is our family Beck. Book published in 1910. I have an old family letter of 1935 by Harry Clay Beck 1867- 1946. He says his father was born in Belpre 11/23/1821 and sibs were Tabitha Beck Price, Vivian, John, Samuel. I find Edward born 1777 in the 1850 census of Owen Co, Ind. Samuel, Vivan and Prices also there. I find Edward and 1st wife Catharine Hutchison Beck in 1850 census of Dover, Ohio with wife and children Sarah and George Dudley. By 1860, Edward born 1821, is in Putnam Co, Ind with wife Catharine- children Sarah J, George Dudley, Marietta born 1851 in Ohio and Emma born 1858 in Ind. Edward and Catharine married 3/1845 in Belpre. In the 1860 census, Edward of 1821, is married to Anna Trump and has Edward 1864-1910, Harry Clay 1864-1946, Anna- died in infancy, Saraphina- abt 1874- all born in Worthington, In. Roy born 1877 in Sidalia, Mo. Edward Sr, Jr, Harry, Roy and grdson Bernie were photographers in Indianapolis/Worthington. Edward of 1821 did tintypes in the Civil War. Edward 1777 in Owen Co., married to a Nancy Oldakers in Franklin Ci, Va. The history from Taylor Co Iowa says Becks and Prices initially move west from NJ. I have a feeling this Beck family were very early settlers, but cannot get beyond 1777. There are many Becks- from Scotland about 1650, England to Bucks Co, Pa and German Becks. I hope someone can help me trace our Edward Beck back to the correct family. I think the father of Edward Beck born 1777, may be Samuel. Would greatly appreciate help. Thank you. The 1935 letter says a beck married an Armstrong- I find nothing on this. says Edward married a Nancy Oldakers or an Elizabeth Smith.
