The Spilman that married John Jett, Sr. (1685-1754) would not have been born in 1722, nearly 40 years after John's birth. John's son, Peter, was born in 1717. Gladis is mentioned in John Jett's will and her own will (1778) says that she is of Westmoreland County, Virginia. Her children are confirmed in both. She could not have had these children if she had been born in 1722 and been the dau. of Wm Spilman. Most likely she is the dau. of James Spilman and was born between 1675-1687 (marriage to John is approx. 1705).
