I am seeking information on the first marriage of my 3g-gfather, William Whitlock, specifically the name of his first wife. This is what I know about William: b. Nov. 1795 in (unknown county), Virginia. By 1820, he was in Boone Co., KY, where he had two children, Eliza Ann and William Jr.

The Virginia records indicate that 3 marriages with the groom named William Whitlock took place in the logical time frame. They are:

1. WILLIAM WHITLOCK and NANCY MONTGOMERY, 23 June 1814, in Frederick Co., VA;

2. WILLIAM WHITLOCK and ANNA FARIS, 29 July 1817 in Pittsylvania Co., VA;

3. WILLIAM WHITLOCK and NANCY DERICK, 23 December 1817, in Cabell Co., VA

Apparently William’s first wife died sometime between 1826, when William, Jr. was born, and 1835, when William married his 2nd wife, JULIA ANN MONAGHAN, in Floyd Co., Indiana. William lived the rest of his life in Floyd Co.; first in Greenville, then in Lafayette Township. He died there in 1873.

If anyone has information regarding any of these three marriages and whether the groom may have been my William Whitlock, please reply to this message. I have a significant amount of information about William after 1835, but his early life remains a mystery.
