GEORGE HOLT/HOTT (1717-1791) of Frederick County, VA, 1782-1787 Tax Lists, had sons: GEORGE, Jr. (1736?-1805); HENRY(1760s-c1806); ,JOHN (1740/50s-prob. died, Hampshire County before 1816); SAMUEL (c1740s--died probably Hampshire County, 1830s).They lived at White Hall, near Berryville, Frederick County. GEORGE Holt (c1717-1791) married in Orange County, VA, Mary Magdalene Pool- Stover, the widow of the Rev. Stover who died at sea in 1738. George was the son of Michael Hold/Holt and Elizabeth Scheibley of the Germanna Colony in Spotsylvaniia County, the only son who did not move with his parents to Orange County, North Carolina in 1760s.

Additional inforration on the line of George and Mary Magdalene would be most appreciated., The surname, originally spelled HOLD, then HOLT, was inadvertently transcribed and indexed as HOTT by 20th century eyes, the "L" and the "T", both crossed in the flourish of the county clerk's pen Jackie
