Hi, From the book Settlers Southerners, Americans: The History of Essex County, Virginia 1608-1984, by James B. Slaughter, page 19. "St Anne's Parish built the first half of the beautiful Vauter's Church in 1719, which to this day houses the Episcopal Church in upper Essex. Just six years later, St. Anne's erected Sale's Church on the land of Cornelius Sale, just west of Champlain." From page 20, "The Reverend Bagge estimated in 1724 130 families lived in St. Anne's Parish and that between 100 and 180 people attended his two churches.
I looked in the index of this great book but there was no Newton listed, however, I have found that not every name has been listed in the index.
