I am tring to find out any information on my great grandma, Lovia Rose.
Lovina was know by other nicknames such as, "Vinnie" Rose and "LJ" Rose. She was born in 1877/78 in Wise Co, VA. Her parents were Elias Jackson Rose ("EJ") and Mary Jane Wright ("Polly"). Elias was a preacher.
Lovina married a Tolbert "Tucker" Hibbitts from Dickenson Co, VA in (I have 2 different dates from 2 different sources) August 19, 1893 or August 21, 1894 in Dickenson Coo. VA (Clintwood). She was 15 and he was 21. Her father "EJ" married them and was a wittness for Lovina and Tolbert's mother, Julie Hibbitts, was present and a wittness for him.
Lovina and Tolbert had 2 boys, Wayne and Ballard. Wayne was born August 21, 1895 and Ballard was born April 6, 1897.
Lovina died in 1897, sometime after Ballard was born. She was 20/21.
Tolbert was left to raise the 2 boys on his own. He worked for Ridder Lumber Company and never remarried. He died in 1929.
His bible was at one time in the possession of a "Belle" Hill of Millard, VA. I do not know what their relation was. The information from the bible was copied by a Goldie Cochran on March 26, 1935 for the Dickenson County Record Project from the Family Bible records.
Any information would be GREATLY appreciated!
Thank you and God Bless,
