Hello,

I am doing some family research in the Sutherland line and have hit a road block. I am trying to trace Elexious Sutherland B: Feb 1885, son of Squire and Anna. I have found him in the 1900 and 1910 Census records but then he and his wife and children vanish. I can not find a trace of Norah, Lora or Anna anywhere in Virginia or the surrounding states and have looked for Elexious just by his birthdate with no similar matches.

I believe that I found him in the 1930 census but I can not connect any of the information as all of the family has changed. He must have remarried but I am puzzled as to what happened to the first children, Lora and Anna. I also found a Leck Sutherland in the SS Death Index (B: Feb 1885 Virginia - D: Aug 1963 West Virginia).

can't help you with people but I can tell you that dickenson county VA is located on the southwest side of VA it is about 10 to 15 min from KY,a hour from Tenn, a hr from NC, a hr from WV . It is in the middle of the coal feilds... I hope that helped...
