Thanks so much for the reply. I have been able to follow most of the children of William Anderson and Catherine Shirley through the years.

The son William has been the most difficult. I am trying to determine the name of the mother of his 4 children. I am fairly certain that she either died before him or else shortly after his death. She didn't receive any dower land nor any provisions for her support. Daughter Henrietta was sent to live with relatives in TN when she was 12, about the year 1829. She never returned to VA. I don't know who she was sent to live with, but she eventually ended up in Williamson Co.,TN where she married her uncle Joel's son.

In 1832 William J Anderson had himself appointed guardian for his sister Rebecca. He sold their father's land and personal estate and apparently left VA without settling with his siblings. The other siblings sued him for their share in 1839. William J Anderson was the only one who did not answer the summons and was listed at the time as being out of the Commonwealth. I have been told that he went to TN, but can find no definite proof of this.

I was hoping that perhaps a descendant of this line might have a Bible or some other family records that might shed some light on the name of the mother.
