My family info says Alexander Compton, born 1776, died 1824, married Lucinda Ireland of Fairfax, VA was the son of William Clarke Compton, born in Charles County, Maryland in 1723 and died in Culpepper Co., VA 8 August, 1808; married Elizabeth Elgin in Charles County in 1761; she died in Culpepper County in 1808 also. They had eight other children besides Alexander. William Clarke Compton was the second son of William Compton and Mary Clarke who married in 1719 in Charles County, Maryland. I am descended from Walter Sidney Compton, older brother of Alexander. Walter Sidney, born 1768, died 1830, married his cousin, Elizabeth Ann Adams.
