Castleton is a small hamlet in Rappahannock County (approximately 6 miles from the Culpeper County line). As it is at the base of the Shenandoah National Park, there are many mountains right in Castleton. My guess is that either Castleton was named for the mountains or the other way around. My grandparents lived in Castleton. Hope this helps.
