My gggrandmother Martha B. Guerrant born 1810 in Buckingham CO., VA married a James Anderson Norvell probably around 1825 or so. Does anyone have any info on Martha B. Guerrant? gary babler Gbabler@aol.com

Gary, do you know if Martha had a nickname, or who any of her children were? I might have a link for you. An old family chart lists a SALLIE GUERRANT who married a MR. NORVELL. This line would have been from Buckingham County, Virginia, and altho my chart does not list many dates, 1810 should be about right for her generation. Their children are listed as WILLIAM NORVELL, JOHN NORVELL, MARY NORVELL, THOMAS NORVELL, JAMES NORVELL, LOUISA NORVELL, GEORGE NORVELL, SARAH NORVELL, DANIEL NORVELL, NANNIE NORVELL, perhaps MARTHA NORVELL (can't read it well), and ELIZABETH NORVELL. If any of these are in your line, please post again. I have more information on the GUERRANT side, but not the NORVELL side.

Are any of the names listed above on the Norvell sheets?

Could Sallie Gurerrant have married a William Norvell in Buckingham county Virginia? This may be the family I have been looking for. Their son James may be my James Anderson Norvell who married a Martha B guerrant and moved to Saline county Missouri. Was Sallie's father John Guerrant who married a Nancy Anderson? Leslie

This is in reply to a Post you made back in 2000. You mentioned that you have an old family chart that shows Sallie Guerrant marrying William Norvell. You also mentioned that you have considerable Guerrant information but not much on Norvell.

My chart (provided by a fellow researcher) shows that William Norvell and Sally Austin Guerrant had the following children:

1) John Guerrant Norvell was born about 1804.
2) James Anderson Norvell was born 7 Jun 1806 and died 21 Aug 1879.
3) Mary Ann Norvell was born about 1808 and died 22 Dec 1854.
4) Daniel Spencer Norvell was born 6 Feb 1813.
5) George Norvell.
6) Thomas A. NORVELL was born about 1819.

John Guerrant Norvell married Jane Lee Snoddy. They had Thomas Henry Norvell (born 14 Aug 1848) who married Sallie Virginia Davidson (the sister of my g-grandfather Thomas A. Davidson "I" and his older brother Eli Banton Davidson).

The second wife of the above-mentioned Eli Banton Davidson was Maria Louise Norvell, and her parents were also John Guerrant Norvell and Jane Lee Snoddy.

I can e-mail information on the descendants of the above two Davidson/Norvell marriages, if anyone is interested.
