I found a cemetary up Jennings Creek above Arcadia on the border of Jefferson National Forest. Christopher Overacre was
one name on a 'modern' headstone. This may just be a family plot, but there were half dozen or so graves - does anyone know of this?

You have found the Overacre family cemetery. I have Christopher Overacre born 05 Feb 1813 died 15 July 1895. His wife Luticea Ann Settle b 25 Feb 1840 d May 1915 Stewardsville, Bedford, VA.

Did you happen to take pictures? If so, I'd love to have a copy. We are trying to get into DAR. Christopher Overacre was a grandson of George Overacre/Oberaker who is a Rev War patriot with the SAR. Unfortunately, DAR does not take SAR documentation. Also the SAR lineage goes thru another uncle.

I am not far away, but without directions I can't go. If there's a long walk, i can't go either. If someone has directions, i'll try to get a photo. I thought Michael said he was there, so I hope he will answer.

I'm wondering if you could tell me who to contact. Christopher Overacre died 15 July 1895. His wife Lutsia/Luticea Settle Overacre died May 1915. Both died Stewardsville, VA. (I have they are buried in Overacre Cemetery - Stewardsville, VA. Looks like the Cemetery moved? or maybe their decendants are in the Botetourt County Cemetery posted online.)

I'm mainly looking for Obituaries. If no one will look at microfilm, what newspapers are in Stewartsville or Vinton or Roanoke? I know of one of Christopher Overacre's descendants recently died in 2/09 - Bernice Maxine Overacre died in Vinton,VA. She's listed in the Roanoke Times.
