My 7th greatgrand father is William Toney born 1779, who married Mary Watkins. When he joined the army to fight in the War of 1812, he listed his place of birth as Amherst, VA. He named his first son Reuben - did he name him after his own dad? I found the record where Reuben Toney married widow Fanny Willoughby in 1779. Can anyone help me with this? I would appreciate anything.
