My John Hurt Sr.(b. 1703-1754) was married to Margaret _? and his son John Jr. married Mary King. John's grandfather was William and John had a brother named Joel. John and Joel moved to Halifax county and sold out there around 1778 and moved to Surry County, NC. Joel eventually moved on to Georgia. Any further info appreciated!

Although there are many COLEMAN records listed, the ones you have requested do not appear. Amelia County was formed in 1735, so the first request you list would not be included, maybe not even your second one if the date is off a little.

Would you please look in your family history to see if you have a George W. Vaughn. GEORGE W. VAUGHAN born on 28 Feb 1796 in Virginia. Between that year and 1832 he moved to Garnetsville, KY (now it is Fort Knox) as a blacksmith and farmer (History of Garnetsville. KY).He married MARY ELIZA CONNER on 09 Aug 1832 in Kentucky. Their sons were Richard Thomas (Thomas Richard), William and George. Assuming that George was Irish and first born son was Richard Thomas/ Thomas Richard. That might be the best place to start. His residence in 1850 was District 3, Meade Co, and Kentucky according to the census. He died on 13 Apr 1869 in Mead Co KY Thank you so much for your time and effort. I don't see the CLARK's that you have listed here. There are, of course, other CLARK's listed. In case you were not already aware, this book states that Amelia County was formed in 1735 from Brunswick & Prince George Counties. Perhaps you should check these counties as well for records.

cannot bring up the blank cenuss for 1790 but on the cenus
it clearly shows the numbers 1-4-1
which most likely shows Hezekiah and wife Jencey and four children.

John Walthall born in Amelia County VA, April 1, 1793, died in Perry County AL October 9. 1868. Married to Permelia Jones born in Person County NC, Oct 2, 1800, died in Perry Co AL, Jun 16, 1877.

I'm hoping to find some information on Enoch Marvin Terry & family. Enoch and his wife Sarah along with children Ethel, Annie and Phillip were in Amelia when the World War 1 draft card was filled out June 1917. Enoch's brother Mordecai F Terry was also in Amelia at this time. Both Enoch and his brother were born in Surry NC. Parents of Enoch I have as Thomas E & Sarah Fleming Terry. I'm not sure if this is the same Thomas Terry that's buried in Anchor Baptist Church Cemetery.

Several descendants of this family have done DNA testing and are in Williams DNA Group 8. The group has a Williams DNA blog which includes this family as well as many of the ancestors of the participants in Group 8. The furthest back ancestor of DNA group 8 is Charles Williams who died in 1692 in Charles City County, Virginia.

Aiysha - I would like to correspond or talk with you about the Eggleston/Meade/Johnson family of Holmes County, MS - particilarly in reference to slave ownership of the Egglestons. I'm also interested in Johnson, as my ancestors were Pattie Johnson, bn abt 1836 in VA, (daughter of Harrison and Nancy Johnson. Pattie married Kingston Banks, bn abt 1862 in VA. both were brought as slaves to MS from VA, I believe by the Eggleston family. I have lots of information on this extended Johnson/Banks family.
