Seeking information on Ambrose Jeter, believed to have been another son of John Jeter, the immigrant, was born in Caroline Co, VA, bef. 1735. He was Ensign in the Caroline Militia during the Revolutionary War-commissioned May, 1778. He married twice-both times in Amelia County, Virginia, where his marriage bonds are to be found. First, in 1760, Jane Stern, daughter of Francis and Ann Elizabeth B Stern. The marriage bond shows that Ann Stern consented to the marriage of her daughter, and that John Jeter was security.
Ambrose Jeter married (second) in 1778, Mrs. Mary Farley (widow), by whom she had no children. He died in Amelia County in 1803, and his will, made in 1798, mentions daughter: Tabitha Gills, Mason Crenshaw, and Jane Wood: sons: Allen, Rodophil and John. (Will Book No. 6, page 355)
