I am trying to locate the gravesites for John and Ann Farish Martin. They had lived in King and Queen Co, Brunswick Co, Amelia and Lunenburg Counties. They eventually settled on the Briery River in what is now Prince Edward Co. John died in 1788, Ann was not mentioned in his will, so it is believed she died prior to his death. He owned 612 acres in Amelia Co in 1736. I believe Prince Edward County was formed from this area of Amelia Co. Their children were Robert Martin m. Elizabeth Johnston, 1769; John Martin m. Ann Spencer, 1774; Mildred Martin m. Sam Wimbish, 1763; Ann Martin m. Thomas Flournoy, 1764; Letitia Martin m. James Carter; and Sarah Martin m. Thomas Carter, 1764. Thomas Flournoy and Samuel W. Venable were executors of John Martin' s will.
If anyone has any information regarding the location of this land, please email me directly. I recently found out that I am related to these Martin's. I am originally from GA and always thought my relatives were from the GA/SC area. I have been living in Richmond, VA since 1991 and would like to find out who owns this land and seek permission to look around. It is believed that John is buried on this land. It may actually now be in Prince Edward County. Thanks.
