Hi,

I read about your Vaughans from Amelia County, VA. I have a James Vaughan, Jr. died in front of the Amelia Courthouse in 1795. His son Johnson Vaughan, we believe Johnson was his mother's family name and his first name is still unknown to us, is my line. Johnson Vaughan was born in VA in 1782, after his father's death his mother had him go into apprenteship - brick mason. We believe his mother's name was Elizabeth, because he named his first daughter Eliza. Johnson Vaughan went into KY after his mothers death (?). He was in Nelson County, KY, and by 1810 he was married to Nancy Lowe (family from KY) and he was living in Davidson County, TN.

My James Vaughan born in 1814 is his son, the only survival of his first marriage. Elizabeth died before she was 1 yr. old.

Do you have any more information regarding your Vaughans from VA?

Telma

Dear Telma,
I don't recognize "Johnson" in my immediate family line. Thanks for asking.

My husband is from this line, Thomas and Dorothy immigrated from England in 1750, according to our family letters and records. He died on 8/12/1788. They had children as follows: William, Thomas, James m. Susannah, Henry Fielding Vaughan m. Jan, Dorothy m. Thomas Hunt, Lucy m. Mark Harwell, Elizabeth Reese, Martha m. Charles Locke, and Ann m. Joel Wilkerson.

I would love to know more about his parents and Dorothy's if you have any other info regarding same.

I have a discertation done by one of the patriarchs in our line, but am not sure all is exact. Also, Thomas was a Justice designated by the British Crown as one of the presiding judges in the American colonies. He also became a plkantation owner-operator of cotton and livestock. He kept his commission as judge until his death.

Thanks for any other info you might have.

Dear Cynthia,
I've actually learned that I am a descendent of William (1625-1693)and Sarah (1634-1712) Vaughan of Charles City County, VA. They had seven sons there. If anyone has any information on where William and Sarah came from, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.
Sincerely, Thomas Vaughan

I am a descendant of James O. Vaughan, brother of your Asa. I have a FTM file for this family. Unfortunately it doesn't include any children of Asa, but it does go back to William Vaughan, born in 1630 and died after 1693 in Charles City Co, VA. You can write to my email address if you'd like to know more. migin at widomaker dot com.

Do any of you have Mary P. Vaughan, born circa 1834, died 18 July 1889? She married John William Henry Warren on 11 January 1853 in Dinwiddie County, Virginia. They had one daughter, that we know of, Ann Otelia F.P. Warren, and she married Edward Bishop in 1879 in Dinwiddie County, Va.
We would like to know more about the WARREN, VAUGHAN or Bishop families. Parents? Siblings?
Thank you.

I, too, descend from John MITCHELL and Obedience VAUGHAN, and have traced their migration out of Amelia Co. My MITCHELLs eventually were in Floyd Co, VA for a while and then Roane Co, WV.
