Interested in any information regarding African-American
history in Amelia, Virginia and slavery. Any information regarding the surnames of Royal, Scott, Meade, Gills, Greene, Booker, and Walker. Especially interested in Rev. Cornelius Meade, an African-American Preacher and Teacher during the 1800's in Amelia.

I have information on slaves that went to Tennessee from Amelia county, VA with a James Cooper family. He had 1 adult female & 2 males & 1 female children. The mother's name was Amy, the daughter's name was Mary and one of the sons was named Green. Julia Cooper

Hi Sherry,

My great-grandparents lived in Amelia/Powhatan area from about 1860. I am not researching the surnames you are interested in, but wondered if you have heard of the Taylors', Woodsons', Anderson's or Carters'?
