Isabel Anderson Urie, EAST CRAFTSBURY, Vt.

EAST CRAFTSBURY, Vt.-Isabel Anderson Urie, 97, died Friday at the Greensboro Nursing Home in Greensboro following a brief illness. She was born in East Craftsbury, the daughter of James and Evelyn (Gilman) Anderson. A graduate of the University of Vermont in 1926 with a bachelor's degree in literature, she taught school in Montgomery Center, Cabot, Rutland and Greensboro. She and her husband, Leslie, who died in 1967, operated Bonnie View Farm in South Albany for many years. Following her retirement from teaching, she worked as activity director at Greensboro Nursing Home. In later years, she was a volunteer companion to many individuals in the area. Her interest in people touched many lives. A son, Andrew of Glover, Six brothers, William, James, Reginald and Roy Adnerson, and Elroy and Will Hinman; two sisters, Ina Rugg and Elnora Wright; died previously. She is survived by four children, Richard Urie of Ashville, N.C., Ellen McGrew of Beckley, W.Va., the Rev. Arthur Urie of Andover, and Paul Urie of Essex Junction, Vt.; 11 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. A service of thanksgiving for her life will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the United Presbyterian Church in East Craftsbury. A gathering of family and friends will be held at the church dining room following the services. Private interment will be in the Andersonville Cemetery in West Glover. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the United Presbyterian Church, Ketchum Hill Road, Craftsbury, Vt. 05826, or to the Craftsbury Community Care Center, 1186 E. Craftsbury Road, Craftsbury, Vt. 05826.
