Mrs. Eva D. Davis died Sept. 14th at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Sanders on Christian Hill, following a long illness.
Eva D. Mack was born in Stockbridge, Sept. 26, 1867, daughter of Rufus and Elizabeth (Bates) Mack. She was first married to Arthur Newell and resided in Stockbridge until the death of her husband. To them were born a daughter, who died at an early age, and one son, Arthur Newell, whose death occurred in Bethel a few years ago.
Her second marriage was to Henry Davis and to them was born one son, Gordon, who resides at the Sanders home in Bethel and who assisted in the care of his mother during her last illness. A daughter died at the age of 15 months.
Besides her son, Gordon, she is survived by an adopted daughter, now Mrs. Charles Lueg of Long Island, and by eleven grandchildren, including Pfc. Arthur Newell, now serving overseas: Miss Arlene Newell, now a nurse in Burlington; Miss Mildred Newell, a student at Whitcomb High school, and William Newell, Leonard Davis, and Doris Davis, all of Bethel.
The funeral was held Sunday in the United church at Bethel with Rev. Will C. Harvey officiating. Interment was in the family lot at Cherry Hill cemetery.
