Joseph F. Ray (b. 1830) married Jane Clarissa Allard 11 Mar 1855 in Plymouth, Windsor, Vermont. Joseph Ray's home was listed as Chester, and Jane Clarissa Allard's was listed as Plymouth on their marriage record.

They had four children: Abbie J Ray b. 1856; Orrin Freeman Ray b. 1860; Eliza Jane Ray b. 1870; Guy R Ray b. 1875.

They moved to Lima, Pepin, Wisconsin by 1870 and to Eaton County, Michigan by 1880.
