The following query was originally posted in December 1996. While sources conflict as to where John Pelkey came from (some say Maine, some say Canada), I have found other sources which confirm Vermont. Would love to exchange information with anyone on the PELKEY family in Vermont.

I am looking for information on my ancestor, John PELKEY, who migrated to Washington County, PA before 1860. He was born circa 1830 in Vermont. I believe it was in Rutland County, though I have been unable to locate him in any records there or to link him with any certainty to the PELKEYs in Pittsford at the time.
