David Sanders was born on November 4, 1805 in Newbury, Orange County, Vermont. His mother's name was Abigail. Both are buried in the Sanders Cemetery on Route 39 in Perrysburg, New York. By the time David was 5, his mother, Abigail, was married to Samuel Perkins. I do not know Abigail's maiden name or the name of David's father. In a NY State Census, it says that Abigail was married twice and had 5 live children. One of them was Lydia Perkins, who married Charles Pratt. They lived in Eagle, Wyoming County, New York. I am trying to find out the name of David's father and Abigail's maiden name.

hello,

i'm looking up for any relations to ezekiel russ (russell), apparently there was a father with the same name? His ancestors were John Russ and John Russ jr in Massachusetts. I've had a rough time looking up past ezekiel, but if there is a connection to john somehow that would be greatly appreciated.

Hi. I'm looking for information on Isaac and Mary Lawrence. They had 12 children, all of whom according to familysearch.org records, were born in Orange County, Vermont between 1804 and 1824. Their names are David, Charles, George, Miri, Isaac, Mary, Eliza, Polly, Edward, Oren, Lyman and Samuel. I was wondering particularly about their son, George and if anyone knows his middle initial or even his middle name. Thanks.

White family of Brookfield Township

I am hitting a road block on the White branch of my family tree. My 3rd Great Grandfather, Merrill White was born approx 1796 in Vermont. I located birth information for a Merril White born 9-17-1796 in Brookfield Township, Orange County Vermont on Familysearch.org . His father is listed as William White but his mother’s information is not listed. This William White may have had 7 other children all born in Brookfield VT between 1792 and 1808 but only 4 survived beyond the 1st few years. The names of the other children were : Morris White (1792-1869) Amanda White (1794-1863) , William White ( 1798-1799) Miley White (1800-1802) William Anson White ( 1803-1872) , Sally White ( 1806-1807) and Erastus White( 1808-1809) . When checking each of these possible family members out on Familysearch.org each listed William White as the father and that he lived in Brookfield, at least one listed his occupation as farmer. He may have also been born in Brookfield and his wife’s name may have been Sarah who may have come from Whately Mass. I cannot absolutely confirm any of this and am hoping that someone has more information on this William White, his family and his wife Sarah. Thanks in advance for any information that you may have.

After too many hours, I have come to the conclusion that "George" may not have been Ellen George, wife of Emery Jones, maiden name.

I think I can almost certainly state that this Ellen is not the daughter of Jonathan Worthley George (b 4 Jun 1793 in Washington, Orange Co., VT, d abt Dec 1880 in Owatonna Twnshp., Steele Co., MN), and his wife Eunice ____, who also died and both are buried in MN.

It appears that in May 1875 they were living with their daughter, "E. Chesley", and her family in MN.

Do you have different parents for my Ellen George?
It could be Jacob Wilds. His headstone in the Old Topsham Cemetery is spelled as Jacob WILLS. It reads "He served his country faithfully in both wars with England" I can't find his 1812 service under his right name. His wife's name on the adjacent stone is spelled "Lydia wife of Jacob WILD." Jacob was of the Wiles/Wylds/Wilds, family from Topsfield, MA, and served in the Revolution. His daughter Nancy Wilds married my ancestor, Manassah Pike.

Hi. My name is Linda - And, I saw your post here on ancestry.com. I actually came into some albums of signatures. A signature album?? I guess it's what they used back in the late 1800's instead of a school yearbook. Anyways, a lot of signatures are with some great words. There are a bunch of Flint family members and others from the Braintree and Randolph are. Would these be something of interest to you.

Linda
I am doing genealogy for my husband's mother's family and since Alexander played such a large part in the life of my husbands Grandmother's (Christine Bruce) life, I am including him in the family tree. From what I've found, researched and been told by Christine Bruce, Alexander was living in Burlington, VT at the age of 15 as a border while a student there. No one is sure why or how he came to Randolph, but, after Christine's husband Robert Bruce died in 1918 at the age of 22, Christine had to take in borders in order to support herself and her three children and Alexander was one of the borders. After some time, Alexander purchased a house for Christine Bruce and her three children in 1925 (he would have been 60 years old by then) and he lived with her until he passed away in 1943. Christine took care of him for several years after he became ill and bedridden. It was told by the three children that Christine and "Uncle Nick" as they called him had an ongoing romantic relationship. The 1930 Census shows Alexander as a border with Christine as head of household and then the 1940 Census shows Alexander as head of household with Christine and her children as boarders. He passed away in Randolph, VT in 1943 and is buried in Pleasant View Cemetary in Randolph, VT. We were just there in 2010 and visited his and my husband's mother's gravesites. I have an original picture of Alexander a/k/a "Uncle Nick" playing cards with two other gentlemen. I also have an original photograph of Capt. Gustave Niebaum that was taken out in California that Alexander must have brought with him as it was in Christine's possession at the time of her death. We remember Christine (my husband's grandmother) telling us that "Uncle Nick" stated that he was "asked to leave his father's house" and we assume that is why he went to New England. I was unable to find a birth certificate for Alexander and his death certificate shows he was born in Alaska but his parents are shown as "not known". In doing the math...it sounds like Alexander may have been illegitimate. Gustave would have been approximately 15 at the time of Alexander's birth...do you know if he was??...Alexander would have been 8 years old at the time of Gustave's and Suzanne's marriage. I am wondering if you could forward a copy of Gustave's will showing that Alexander was indeed Gustave's son. If so please email it to me at thetreehouse@tds.net as I will not be on ancestry.com very much longer. I find I can find much of the same information on familysearch.org at no cost. I am attaching a copy of Alexander's death record, the picture of Alexander playing cards(he is on the far right) and a copy of Capt. Gustave Niebaum's picture and the back of it as to where it was taken. Thanks and I look forward to hearing from you I'd greatly appreciate if you would forward a copy of Gustave's Will for my records.

Alexander was the son of Finnish sea captain Gustave Niebaum (originally Nybom)who charted much of the coast and islands of Alaska for the Russian-America Co. He was in Alaska when it was sold to the United States. He loaded a ship with goods from the Alaskan territories and went to San Francisco. There he partnered with a group of business men who purchased the Alaskan assets of the Russian-America Co. and applied to the U.S. government for trading rights in the Alaskan Territories. The government gave them a twenty year exclusive right to a large part of the Alaskan territories including the Pribolof (seal) Islands. They became the Alaska Commercial Co.. At the height of their operation they owned in addition to the trading posts, steamship lines, canneries, and river steamers.
In 1873 Gustave married Suzanne Shingleberger in San Francisco. In 1879 he began purchasing parcels of land in the Napa valley which became his country estate. There he took on the personal challenge of making a wine as good as anything being made in Europe. The estate was known as Inglenook. I have worked at Inglenook for nearly ten years. I discovered Alexander when I obtained a copy of Gustave's will and found a provision for his son. Anything you can tell me about him would greatly appreciated. Do you have any idea where he is buried? Is there a stone? What kind of life did he lead? I followed him through the census and note that he never married and that he was always a boarder. Thank you so much for your reply

Hello,
My husband's grandmother had a boarder by that name from 1930 to 1943 and lived in Randolph, VT. I believe he went by Uncle Nick.

If you have any information about his father and mother I would be interested in obtaining it.

I also have a copy of his death record.

Thank you,
Joann
I was at my father's home last weekend and unpacked some boxes that were passed down to him. Inside were many letters/legal documents/receipts from Leonard Gale - son of Ephraim Gale. Wells River, Vermont & early 1800s...

There are many of them - from 1811 through to the 1840s...

Are there any Gale descendants from this area here?

I would like to find a good home for these - they will probably go to the vermont historical society or genealogical society...

thanks,
jeff
My family name is Stephen and my father, George Stephen (the 3rd) emigrated from Aberdeen in the late 50's to Massachusetts. Just getting interested in tracing my family. My dad doesn't know that much about previous generations. He had an Aunt Mabel who lives in Leominster and would have been born around 1906. Might she be the daughter of this couple? Is she a relative of yours as well?

Rochester VT has Abagail Dau of Silas & Nabby died 22 Feb 1875 age 67/68.

I doubt if Andrew I was ever in VT as Hezidiah(Fairbanks/Moore) had property in Bolton given by her father, Andrew l probate records and property listing is in the County Court house in Worcester MA. Therefore the adoption would have been by Andrewl l while he was in Putney between the time he was found and his marriage in Putney in 1791. I only know of the one house which I believe came from a Fairbanks parcel so there could have been more of them as they were all family.

Andrew ll was in Putney Rochester Ripton and Woodstock as stated in his personal statement for his pension application. His property in Rochester is well documented in the History of Rochester VT and there is a stone monument to him with a brass plaque from his sons who moved to California.

All that would be consistent with Silas being an adopted Sauk & Fox Nation member. I am descended from Lucy McWain, who I think was one of their daughters. My Dad traipsed around there digging up documents 20-30 years ago.
