I happened to be in the Goshen cemetery today. I saw your message a few weeks ago and remembered the name OVERBEEK. I found two gravestones for OVERBEEK

The first stone has one name on two of the sides:
Charles H. Overbeek, born Nov 14, 1804 Died Mar 10, 1880
Nathaniel F. Overbeek, born Nov 3 1869 Died Aug 11, 1894 Æ 26 Yrs.

The other is a large stone:
It has OVERBEEK at the bottom of stone.
Barend Overbeek, born Feb 22, 1828 Died Dec 11, 1910
Susan A. French, his wife, born Sept 27, 1832 Died Sept 16, 1869

Attached are photos the the Gravestones.

Hope this helps and good luck!!

Tom,

Thanks so much for the pics. They were very helpful and nice of you. There are four other people related that we are looking for we suspect is in the same cemetery.

Nathaniel French (Susan French Overbeeks father)
b 1798 Canada
d after 1880 census lists him living with Barend and Nathaniel was at that time 82

Mary (Nutting) Comstock Overbeek (Barend Overbeeks 2nd wife)
b 1826 Chittenden Rutland Cty VT
d 12 May 1889 VT

Rebecca Comstock (Mary Comstock mother)
b 1806 VT
d last census 1880 living with Mary, Barend, and Nathaniel French

Cora Almira Overbeek Grover (Barend and Susans daughter)
b June 1860 Granville Washington Cty NY
d VT

Last thing we have on Cora is that she married Hiram Alphonso Grover Oct 14 1881. On Hiram I have a listing for nhis headstone to be placed in a cemetery in Brandon. Hiram was a Union Civil War Soldier. b 1856 Granville NY
d 21 Nov 1891 in Waterbury VT. Rumor has it that Hiram was in a hospital for the insane and that is where he died.

If you have time to go back to the cemetery that would be great.

Thanks,
Debby

Hi Debby, Just noticed that you are looking for Hiram Grover. in http://vermontcivilwar.org/cem/town.php he is listed as buried in Wallace Cemetery in Sudbury. I see you have others buried there so they may both be there. The Civil war card says Brandon but Sudbury is next door. Alan

Alan,

Thanks for info, in the book I have it just had H A Grover b unknown d unknown Civil War Soldier so I was not 100% sure. Cora Overbeek Grover is not listed with him in Wallace Cemetery I wonder if she is with the rest of the Overbeek family in the Goshen Cemetery. The only reason I can think of for splitting up a husband and wife is that she died so much later than he and the Overbeeks had control of her burial. Just a conclusion though....
