Yes, this family did come from Wales, West Wales. South Wales covering the more Swansea, Glamorgan Area's.

I have John Hopla's son ( also named John ) details as follows :- John Hopla born July 14, 1851, Monkton, Pembs.
John Hopla may have been christian on the July 22, 1852.
I see we both agree on March 24, 1911 for John's died .
I did not know he died of pneumonia, so thank you

I think you are off on your birth and death dates.

This Hopla Family came from South Wales.

John Hopla was b. July 22, 1852 and d. March 24, 1911 from pneumonia.
He was single, a farmer and was aged 58yrs, 8mo, 2da at the time of his death.

He was born in South Wales and was the son of John and Catherine Edwards Hopla.

John had a brother:
Lorenzo Hopla, b. December 2, 1856, Pembrickshire, Wales.
d. September 5, 1916, self inflicted gunshot wound. Suicide
He was a widow, and a farmer. He was married to Olivia M. Stringes.

Both are buried

John Hopla came to Utah in 1856 [ I think ] and died March 23, 1891 at Spanish Fork.

Would anyone be able to fill in the between years ? as I am researching his family.

Even more importantly, could anyone tell me the origin of this surname ?

Dear Paula, I am writing to you from Warrington Cheshire England. I am doing my husbands family history and found out his grandmother is descended from Angus and his father Henry's Stocks family. They lived mostly in Derbyshire, Angus Stocks was Phoebe Martin's [that is the grandmother's] uncle Some of the Stocks family moved to near to where I live to work in a locomotive factory. I have been on ancestry to look up the Stocks family I see they are Mormons it is all very interesting to see how they lived, it must have been hard. We have visited Moab and Salt lake City. I would contact the local library in Mapleton Utah. Most libraries keep copies of old newspapers or will be able to help find the obituary you are looking for. You are in luck since he died in Utah the LDS church will also be a great resource.

If he died in Utah he can go to the Bureau of Vital records
Health.Utah.gov/vitalrecord. They should be able to help him and tell him what he needs to do. 801-538-6105 is a recorded message so I'm not sure where that will send him. I do think he will need a death certificate. He might also contact the mortuary that buried him. They are supposed to give the family copies of the death certificate.

Hi,

You'll find very little about Jerry on-line since he was born after the 1940 Census and died in 2007.

I did find the menlove family tree, trees.ancestry.com/tree/237175/person/-2105761082 which shows that he was born in Provo, Utah, UT and died 14 Oct 2007 in Mapleton, Utah, UT. Unfortunately, there isn't an obituary volunteer for this county at this time. Successful Searching!

Kevin Blood was born January 17, 1964, son of Elmo and Marilyn Baxter Blood. Again, there is a photo of Kevin. Gives more details into the accident.
Kevin was dead on arrival at Utah Valley Hospital.

Maybe someone out there can help my friend. I am trying so hard to find more information on her ancestor, Mormon Battalion member Richard Saugerties Bush(b.Mar.13,1826, NY d. Jun.21,1883, UT.) She once read an old newspaper article written about specific hardships of his life; because of them, he would be buried in a pauper's grave.

Unfortunately, she can't seem to find that article again. We've combed the internet and Ancestry.com. All of it is the same info written in different ways. She was the daughter of Jens N. and Margaret Christina Ipson Holm.

I have the biography of her husband, Bishop David Evans. Christina Holm was the 4th wife of David Evans, they married in 1861 (his first three wives died prior.)

My Family settled in Lehi at the same time, My 2nd Gr-Great Aunt, Matilda Thomas Evans was married to Israel Evans, Israel was the brother of David Evans and sister in law to Margaret Christina.

My 4xremoved first cousin was also a pioneer in 1862 - his family were in the Henry W. Miller Company, sailed from Liverpool on the William Tapscott. William, brother of Thomas, was married to his grand-daughter.
