Henry Jakeman was my great great great grandpa and drove a team of oxen at the age of 23 in the Hunt wagon train that traveled close by the Willie handcart company and was one of the 20 men chosen to stay behind at Martin's Cove / Devils Gate to guard the contents of the wagons of the Hogot and Hunt companys after the rescue at Martins Cove. If you have any information about Henry Jakeman or his family I would like to get copys. My name is Terral Dunn and I live in Richfield, Utah. 610 West 740 South 84701

I've secured a few stories from the DUP & list of names from the LDS website, but am also looking for other sources. Thank you.
My great, great grandfather was James Edward Shipp, brother to Milford Bard Shipp. There are 11 boxes in the Ellis Shipp collection containing poetry, letters to and from Ellis and Milford and children, documents, etc., at the Utah State Historical Society. Pretty exciting stuff if anybody is interested. (James Edward Shipp was also the son of Austin. There is also a copy of an invite to the 50th wedding of Austin Shipp and Louisa Caroline Farnsworth in conjuction with a birthday party for one of the Shipps. I can;t remember whether the birthday was for Milford of Ellis.

Looking for Martha (Paxman) Cullum in Wayne County, she was born 1845 in England. Have found her in the 1900 census in Teasdale (they were with his son Henry W. Cullum & his wife Martha (this Martha was born in Germany), but am unable to find any records of her in that area later. I believe they lived there when she passed away (about 1915), but can't locate the cemetery in State burial indexes. There isn't a death certificate on the State of Utah site. She was the second wife of Henry Cullum (my g-g-grandfather) he was born in 1840 in England. Any help in locating information about her would be appreciated.

Paulene (Cullum) Carr paulenec@etv.net

Milford Bard Farnsworth's father was Stephen Martindale Farnsworth. It was his sister, Louisa Caroline Farnsworth who married Austin Shipp, and they bore Milford Bard Shipp senior (1836-1918).

I would think that due to the priminance of the name "Milford Bard", that Stephen named a son to honour his sisters son.

Bicknell-Thurber town history [my surnames Williams, Baker, Coleman, Stringham]

Bicknell, Wayne Co. Utah was called Thurber when it was first settled in 1875 in honor of Albert K. Thurber who brought into the region six hundred head of Church(The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints) cattle. He was an early explorer of Rabbit Valley, an indian interpreter and a president of the Sevier Stake. Later Thomas Bicknell, a prominate educator and historian of Providence, Rhode Island, wished to perpetuate his name in Utah and offered a library of one thousand volumnes to the town that would take his name. George Brinkerhoff, who was filling a mission for the LDS church in that area, discussed the matter with Mr. Bicknell and on his return home explained the proposition to citizens of Thurber. The result was a vote in favor of changing the name of the town. Record of the action was made in the Court House in April, 1916. The upper western part of Wayne co. has been known as Rabbit Valley since before the coming of the settlers.

William Richard JONES was md 3 times. The woman in the photo is not Annie [JENKINS] JONES, his first wife.

Effie Pierce Jacobs artifacts

Does anyone have any info on any of these names? I bought a box of old Mormon books at a garage sale, and found that these books once belonged to Effie Jacobs. Apparently she was a treasurer for the Daughters of Utah Pioneers for many years. Almost all of the books have some sort of dedication written in them to Effie. Some of these books include: Our Pioneer Heritage by Kate B. Carter, Rainbow Views A History of Wayne County by Anne Snow and Memories that Live A
Centennial History of Utah County by Emma N. Huff. There is also letters, pictures, postcards and newspaper clippngs from
The Deseret. Effie's father was a Pierce, and a Elder in the Mormon church. There's one by Parley Pratt, and in the front and back pages there is a family geneology written it. It begins with the birth of Henry Jakeman in 1834, and goes on with the birthes, deaths and marriages of the family. So if anyone out there can clue me in on any of these present day family members?
