Clifford Witherell b. 1920 Illinois; buried Maesar Cemetery, Vernal, Utah

I am searching for information related to Clifford Witherell b. 1920 in Illinois but who appears to be buried in the Maesar Cemetery in Vernal, Utah.

His parents were George Gideon Witherell and Pearl Matilda Blake...however, it appears that Pearl married a second time to Lavern Rhodes around 1928 in Illinois. I cannot locate any records for George Witherell after the 1920 census. Records on ancestry.com (the family trees) show that he died in 1956 in Illinois...but I cannot find any proof of that information.

I do know that their one daughter, Minnie Mabel Witherell, came to Utah and married into the Hardinger family (this is my connection to the family)...but until today I did not know that there were 2 other children - a daughter, Ilene (I don't know if that is the correct spelling), and a son, Clifford. Clifford apparently came to Utah at some time and is buried in the Maeser Cemetery according to the Utah State Burials Database.

One of the problems I am having with Clifford's information is regarding his death date - the Social Security Death Index shows that he died in Jul 1982; the Utah State Burials Database shows that he died in New Jersey on September 1, 1984 and was buried in the Maeser Cemetery on September 5, 1984. I tried to search the Uintah County newspapers (online), however, they do not appear online for the dates in 1982 OR 1984 that I needed to search.

The www.familysearch.org website shows that Clifford died on 31 Jul 1982, which matches the information of the SSDI, however, this record does not say WHERE he died...so I am quite perplexed by the whole issue!! I have made it a goal to try to never put information into my records that I could not confirm (or at least try to)...and since there are so many different dates here, I just don't know which to believe.

If there is anyone in the Vernal area who might be able to help me, I would greatly appreciate it. It gets harder to verify information the more current it gets, but I would like to try to get this figured out!!

? I just have a question on your grandmother, her name was Mary Murray? and was she a daughter of JHM or granddaughter?

In the family history book: Murray Family History compiled and published by descendants of Jeremiah Hatch Murray. I only see a Mary Murray Merkley of JHM children. She is on page 155. Their are several grandchildren of JHM named: Mary Murray

On page 174 I have a Mary Catherine Murray born on June 4, 1901 in Vernal. Her parents were Mary Jane Hansen and Samuel Ashby Murray and she marred Milton Le Vene Beers on July, 19, 1921. She had four children:

You should check out the following website to be able to view death certificates, and some birth certificates on the archives website for Utah.

Go to http://www.historyresearch.utah.gov/
Then click on the menu option called "Subject Guides"
Select "Death Records"
Then click on the link for Death Records from 1905-1955
Then click on the index link.
Run a search on that page with last name first, first name.
A good majority of these records have a link back to the image of the death certificate.

By the way, we have been doing a DNA genetics history on the Murray line, if you would like more information let use know. We have DNA samples from the Ward Murray (2nd child of JHM and Mary Ashby) and William Murray (9th child of JHM and Mary Ashby) line for geneology purposes. Remember there are two Jerimiah Hatch Murrays. The first Jeremiah Hatch Murray was born to John and Sarah Murray. He had a son Jeremiah Hatch Murray. This Jeremiah Hatch Murray was the father of Penny Murray. My grandmother and Penny were raised together both of their mother's pasted away early in life. Both of these Jeremiah's are located in the Maeser cemetary. If you need more info Contact djaques@relia.net. Hi,

How is your family doing? Is your Aunt or great aunt Ellen still alive and doing ok. I used to visit her when my son went to speech up in salt lake, her home was really close to where he had to go.

I think she is one of the very last grandchildren of Jeremiah Hatch Murray SR.(born in 1844 page 1) and his wife Mary Ashby Murray they had sixty five grandkids in all. Wow. Now, they had a son named Jeremiah Hatch Murray JR (born in 1878) and he had a wife named Rachel Merkley. (Her brother, Charley Merkley, marred JHM JR.'s sister Mary.) Jermeiah (JR.) had several other wives but no children were born within those marriages. (page 212 in the book.) The other wives aren't listed but Lisa Miglori who is a granddaught of Penny's was telling me about it not too long ago.

We are actually trying to update the book. It's amazing that your line is one of the few I haven't found yet. Dave Murray and his twin(Penny's son) and my dad, Cody Jenkins (from william Murray on page 256) were born within days of each other. Nine months before, both parents had gone on a hunting trip together.

I see on page 219 that Nile died at around 61 years old. Where did all the family go afterwards.!!! Are they mostly in Washington or all over.

I am not sure if I would be related to Ms. Burchinal or not. But if she is related to Larry Howard Burchinal then I am related. Larry Howard's father was Reginald Brooks Birchinal, his mother was Mildred Geraldine Burchinal(Hall), his grandmother's name was Ruth Burchinal. Larry's father died when he returned from a hunting trip. I have a picture of Larry's mother and father when they were young I also have some pictures of larry when he was small. Some time if the 1940's Larry was taken by his father and grandmother supposedly to California, they left from Shinston, Wva. If Ms. Burchinal is related I would like to hear from her. She can contact me if she likes.

Uncle Penny was Brother to my Grandfather Nile J Murray. born August 19, 1910 Lile GLen Murray - I know this because I shared his birthday. It was a big deal for me as a kid to sahre his b-day. His father was the Jeremiah Hatch Murray born in Spanish Fork, Utah April 2, 1878. He had two wives, Mary Ashby and Rachel Ellen Merkley. Rachel had seven children: Nelson, Margaret, Merle, Milton, Lile (Penny) Nile, (my grandpa) and Leila. If you aren't already aware, there was a book made by Flora Murray Hall back about 1980. It covers pretty much our entire family back to about 1697. I'd be happy to share whatever information I could.

Compiled and Published by Descendants of Jeremiah Hatch Murray

Jeremiah Hatch Murray, son of John Murray and Sarah Bates was born July 11, 1844 in Lucerne Township, Monroe, County, Michigan.

John Murray came from Scotland in 1831 with the British Army, during the Canadian Border trouble. He soon left the British and joined the Americans. Sarah BAtes came from Ireland, year not known. While the family was livin in Monroe County, Michigan, Jeremiah Hatch, a Patriarch, came o their home as a Mormon missionary and converted John and Sarah to the Church. When their son was eleven days old, they were baptized, the baby blessed and named, Jeremiah Hatch Murray.

Francis Staten Middleton is my great-great grand father, he was married to Ann Jane (Jennie) Forsythe/ Forsyth,
Robert Forsythe was one of her younger Brothers. Charolette may Middleton was one of three children of francis staten middleton and Jennie Forsythe. I do have some pic's and info if your interested.

I was born Feb 14th, 1959 and have an older brother born Nov. 5, 1955. I am interested in learning all our family genealogy. At one time my grandmother Ruth (Mamaw)nickname mentioned that she had it all documented. I wonder whatever happened to it. My dad had a brother Charles, last I heard he was in California. Parley Herbert Goodrich married by cousin Viva Matilda Hunting. Parley was a son of George Albert Goodrich and Harriett Marie Taggart.

Over the years, I have tried to collect information on the descendants of this couple. My records are pretty much up to date as late as 2004.

Another Goodrich book was publised by Jennis Betts (husband Grant) around 1990. She lives in Independence.

1930 census lookup - Nolan N Beaird

Trying to locate Nolan N Beaird in 1930 census. Located in this county in 1920 in Naples, Uintah Co, Utah, ED 133, page 2B, age 11 with his parents Nixon and Willie Beaird. He has moved out by the 1930 census when his parents are back in TX. He can not be located in TX in this census. DOB 1908 in TX. Dad born GA, mom born AR. Any help would be appreciated.

Don't know if your still in Ancestry but my step grand father and his father came to Utah from PA--Edward Hartzell and James Edward Hartzell and one other. My granddad died in the Mountains looking for the lost Rhoads Mine.The only John I know was born in 1917 or 1918 and is still living in Price.
