Many of the young people from Rossie, NY, moved to Park City during the silver mining boom. This included about 6 of the 16 children of John Robb, who was a farmer who lived in Hammond and Rossie, NY after he left Wiston-Roberton, in Lanarkshire, Scotland with his first wife, Mary Robinson. My great-grandfather, George Robb lived in Park City at several points in his life. He and his wife, Mary Maxson Robb, had two boys, John Steven Robb and Bert Robb. In spite of the troubles of the Great Depression, John wanted his wife Katherine and his daughter Ann Louise, to meet their cousins in Utah. His daughter, Ann, is my mother. She is alive and well in Moon Township, PA (112 Fernvue Street). Widowed two years ago, she would truly love to hear from any cousin who remembers their branch of the family. Her father was especially fond of his aunts and uncles out west, especially of an Annie Elizabeth. Notice the name he gave his only child... Unfortunately, he worked two jobs and was not a good correspondant. He did feel close to everyone there, having lived in Park City for two years as a young boy.

Kalinn was my best friend in the world. My heart breaks even still tonight, and it has been several years. Almost 7 since she has been gone. I remember the first day that we met in our gym class in Junior High, I remember having many, many, many slumber parties at your house. I remember you being there for me on the worst night of my life. I remember my last phone call to you right before my wedding. You seemed so happy, and things were really working out great for you. You really loved Washington State, and you were going to school to become a buyer at TJ Maxx. We talked about my life and we talked about yours; we talked about our past mistakes and how they made us better people. I remember Wendover, I remember driving to Salt Lake, I remember you driving all the way to Long Beach to see me in college. I will always have your crazy laugh and your wonderful advice in the back of my mind where I keep it for when I need it. I miss you so much and hope to see you again. I will always love you and am grateful to have been friends with you for so long.
Love, Kim

This year is the 150th anniversary of LDS Pioneer Elizabeth Russell Archibald's immigration to Utah.

Many people in Utah and Idaho are descended from Thomas and Elizabeth (Russell) Archibald. He is planning games for the younger children, sharing of family history info for the adults, followed by a memorial service at the Wellsville Cemetery. Food is POT LUCK. Bring your own lunch and all will share what they bring.

If you have any family heirlooms, photos, letters, etc.. pertaining to Elizabeth Russell Archibald or her immediate family, please bring them for viewing.

For more details contact Brandon Sundeen.

This had nothing to do with this thread. I was at the library in Salt Lake and found a picture of Amos Sargent. It said that you are the one who added this picture. Amos and Mary Brown had a daughter named Hannah. Hannah is my grandmother on my mother's side. I have a picture of Amos and Mary. I don't know if you are a descendant of Mary or not. I know Amos was married more than once. I am looking for pictures of Amos' parents. John Sargent and Elizabeth Farrow. Do you have any clue where I could find those? I am also looking for pictures of Mary Brown's parents. They are William John Brown and Mary Owen. I know that they were in Hoytsville at one time. Hannah had an old suitcase full of pictures and she passed in 1987 and now no one knows who most of these people are. It is kinda sad! My e-mail is sd81371@yahoo.com Any pictures you could send me would be greatly appreciated!!!

Susan

Thomas was born in Johnstone, Renfrewshire, Scotland. Thomas' father Richard Welsh was my GGG GF born in Tenterachan (sp?) Ireland in 1804. Married to Mary Bittle. Moved to Scotland at some point. Had sons Richard and Thomas and a few other kids but I have misplaced the details. Some stayed in Scotland (where I'm from but now in the US)and some went to Utah. Richard 1804's son Richard 1848 married Anne McNamara. They had a daughter Bridgit 1864 who married John Reid and they had my grandfather Richard Welsh Reid. I can get the Reids back to 1736 in Scotland and the Welsh's back to 1780 in Ireland. The Reids still reside in the same locale (Paisley area) where Thomas is from. Hope this helps.

If You select 1881 census and put in Georgina Freestone the first search box and then William in the head of household it will return two familys the top one looks like yours. There is also a Christening for William Freestone in the IGI section on the same site.

Regards Pete.
Leicestershire

My Loveless line comes out to Washinton and Oregon frome numerous states, however I do not know how they came. The Loveless line that I tracked goes from New Jersey, Ohio, Wisconsin, Washington and ends up in Oregon. There may be a canadian stop in there too, still trying to confirm that. Do you have any info on the Loveless line that might have traveled with wagon train? Very interesting!

Hi,

You might try the Utah Digital Newspapers. They have the Park Record 1936-1947
http://www.lib.utah.edu/digital/unews/
Put in the name of the person and choose the newspaper Park Record or you can do a general search. If you get many results, put the name in quotations marks. Many of my relatives came from the Coalville area and I have used this resource a lot. You might also try this website for other records for Summit county:
http://summitcounty.org/
Then go to "Departments" and then "Historical Society" and then "Research Records" I found imaged marriage records, etc.
I have many relatives from Utah. I would be glad to send you a copy of the websites I have found helpful if you'd like to contact me directly. christine.w.jones@gmail.com

Found your message. If you are still interested, I have lots of info about Jonathan Pyrah (he is my GG grandfather.) He came to US aboard the ship "Wyoming" with date of departure as 3 Sep 1881, arrived in New York 13 Sep 1881. I have sections of his journal of the ship journey over and part of the trip on the plains. If you would like it, please reply. His daughter Julia Ann Pyrah, b. 1868 married William Dexter Robinson, b. 1860. They are my Great Grandparents. I would love to know how you descend, and any info you may have, since I only have info about Julia's descendents.

(After graduating from Rush Medical College, Chicago, in 1884, he practiced in WI, IN, and MI.)

Does anyone have a record of his life in Kamas? Did he pass away there? Is he buried there?

Appreciate any help you can offer.

Hi Andy, I know it is more than two years later, but I wonder if you are still able to photograph headstones in Park City?

If yes, I am looking for the headstone of John P. Kelly who married Elizabeth Healy. John was from Ireland and lived in Park City from about 1878 to 1914. He died in 1914 and Elizabeth died in 1920. He was a miner.

Have you heard of the Utah Digital Newspapers website? If not it is at:

http://www.lib.utah.edu/digital/unews/

Choose the Park Record newspaper, and enter your ancestor names in the Keyword search. I found many articles on John, Elizabeth, and their children. I'm still searching through related articles on them.

Thanks for putting your offer out there!

~PL

Captain Uriah Curtis of Wagon train 1852 from IA: Elmer, Elmore, Depew, Williams, Wright, Huffman, Child, Gheen, Loveless

Anyone know of a book (articles/stories) relevant to this particular wagon train? My ancestors travelled with these folks, and I'm looking for more information about them. I've secured a few stories from the DUP & list of names from the LDS website, but am also looking for other sources. Thank you.
Elizabeth Donelley died in November of 1856. She became ill and stayed behind at Fort Laramie hoping to recover. She very likely joined the Willie or Martin Companies, but which one is not documented. She is buried near the Cache Cave at the upper reaches of Echo Canyon. I have visited Cache Cave and have photos. I have very extensive records of Catherine Maxwell and Jacob Mica Truman. Contact me at my email address please, and we can exchange information.

Ralph Maxwell is my GGGG Grandfather. I have in our records that his father is Robert and mother is unknown. I believe that the information that I have on Elizabeth Donnelly's death date is incorrect. I have Oct 1857 and believe that it must be Nov 1856. Do you know if she was with the Martin or Willie handcart Company? I am related to her through her daugther Catherine Maxwell. We have a good history of Catherine and pictures of her. I would love to share histories.

Ralph Maxwell, b 1794 is my GGG Grandfather. His parents are not known, but some have them as John Maxwill (Note the i and not an e) and Margaret Jones. Documentation to prove his parents is not existant.

I know a great deal about Elizabeth Donelley and her descendants. She and her family were in 2nd Handcart Company. She is buried near Cache Cave in Echo Canyon in Utah. I have a very extensive record on this family. Eager to share information with family rearchers.

Who was Ralph Maxwell's Mother? The only information that I have on this family line is his father Robert and then I'm at a dead end. In my records I have that Ralph was born in Clerty, Ireland on the date that you have given.
What do you know about Elizabeth Donnelly?

Bertlesen, "Enduring Legacy," Vol 4, pp 333-344 abstract

To Leslie Jones;
I have vol. 4 of Enduring legacy and there are several pages beginning on 333 -344 on your Bertelsen family, in fact, about nine pages. I have read through it, and it tells that they came to America on ship "Constitution" under the direction of Elder Christensen, a packet under a Capt., Turkey. They sailed for 8 weeks arriving in early July in the New York Harbor, but I haven't found any place that tells which Pioneer company they came to Utah on. Sorry!

You may want to check the Pioneer wagon trains that left Florence Neb. in early July 1863 to see if you can find any that may give you some leeds.
If you would like me to copy the 9 pages of the history in this book and snail mail it to
you, I'd be happy to do that. If so, write back to me at djbeus@aol.com and send me you home address.

My maiden name is Jones also, Leslie. My Jones's are from Merthyr Tydfil, Glamorgan, Wales.
Best Wishes,
Donna

Don Carlos Perry, was last known to be in Park City

Andy,

My grandfather, Don Carlos Perry, was last known to be in Park City. Just wondering if by some chance you came across the name on your trip? The following was written by my father.
During the next eleven years they lived in Cederview, Ballard, Park City and back in Cederview. We had a good ranch there but he evidently did not like it there for he left us there and went back to the mines in Park City. In February 1925 my younger brother, Alonzo, died. My dad came home then, for the funeral, but he went back again. That was the last time we ever saw him. Where he went or what he did, I have never known. From then on none of us have heard anything of him. We do not even know if he is still living.

Thanks,
Chuck
