I started researching when I was a young teenager and have been actively working on these lines for the past 20 years. I have done extensive research on both the Croft and Mitchell lines (as well as my other lines). I have digital copies of most of my documentation and well as photos and stories, which I am happy to share. I'm in the process of obtaining my CG certification, which I hope to have submitted within the next month or so. I just have to finish editing the kinship section, which I wrote on my Croft research.

I believe I might have a few photos on Frank Croft.

I am the great-granddaughter of Charles Milton Croft (son of John & Amelia Croft) & Fannie Heiner (daughter of Daniel Heiner & Sarah Jane Coulam). My grandfather was Judge Bryant Heiner Croft, one of C.M.'s sons.

I've done extensive research on the Croft family line and I am happy to share what I have.

Schubeck family name butchering was Von Schuboeck

I have no idea why the Von was dropped when they came over to the States... but here is informtaion I found to our Schubeck/ Lowther lineage.

Technically The have misspelled our name so badly throughout the records... it is a difficult find... even in the records. My great - great grandfather was from the Autrian -Hungarian Monarchy Charles Leopold Von Schuboeck (with umlauts of course) who came over to Westpoint to train the soldiers for both sides of the Civil war. He fled because of the fall of the empire and his son also served in the civil war. They stripped our name of the title when the other family members came over and changed the spelling. The census people changed the spelling as it sounded... so I have found our name five different ways thus far. I would be very curious if anyone has any other information....

Also... The Lowther family is tied to ours as well. I have history traced back to the Vikings.

You know David Low was actually the Lowther family Reunion tour director. I have the contact information is you would like to go as I have many family member that are interested.. I know Sarah Lowther is (DOB Jan. 4) is godchild to Her Majesty the Queen. I have a geneology chart that ties our connections and the Lowthers in our family to the Vikings(WODEN King OF Wessex and "Alfread the Unready"....The "Yellow" Earl as they called him, Lady Godiva,Old King Cole, Alexander the Great, Edward III (also a distinct tie in to the Cliffords) The Feast at Broughms castle (Wm Wordsworth) There is also another Wordsworth poem that he specifically worte when he was visiting the Lowther Castle Grounds. (Just called Lowther). Very fascinating history. They have activities at the Driving trails at Lowther usually in August. Hugh Clayton Lowther is now the 8th Earl of Lonsdale. When the Schubecks came over they dropped the Von and changed the spelling of the name. Please let me know if I can help.......

David, I would be most interested in anything that you have on the Gates family, I can't seem to find John Henry's grandfather Abel Gates or I have seen his name as Abraham Gates. I do have a lot of Canadian research on this Gates family, and am led to believe that possibly the grandfather Gates was not born in Canada, but perhaps in the United States. William Tonks and Martha Derricott were married on board the ship "Caravan" The date is 24 March 1856. It was found on the passenger list by her name. It is listed as #449. Port of New York FHL 175516.

You should check out the following website to be able to view death certificates, and some birth certificates on the archives website for Utah.

Go to http://www.historyresearch.utah.gov/
Then click on the menu option called "Subject Guides"
Select "Death Records"
Then click on the link for Death Records from 1905-1955
Then click on the index link.
Run a search on that page with last name first, first name.
A good majority of these records have a link back to the image of the death certificate.

Sorry I don't have any family stories about James and Belva. James was a quite distant cousin of mine (4th cousin) from 3 generations back.

I did find James and Belva in Morgan City on the 1930 US census with their son Kenneth.

I have information about Elsie Morgan Kent Stahlberg who was born on 6 June 1884 in Iowa to John Josiah and Rhoda Alvaretta (Crosby) Morgan. Elsie was first married to John Loren Kent in Cedar Falls Iowa. They married around 1906 and had 5 children together. They divorced sometime between 1920-1930 and Elsie moved to Sheridan County Montana, where her parents lived. An 11 Aug 1930, she married a farmer named Carl Emil L Stahlberg, in Plentywood MT. He was my great uncle, and came from a rather large family. If anyone is interested in more information, please contact me. I noticed that someone had posted Elsie's married name as Schalberg. The correct spelling is "Stahlberg" I hope this will knock down someones brick wall !!!!!

John Woods born March 1813 Knox co., OH. came to Utah in early 1853 to Salt Lake City, in 1858 he was in Centerville and then finally moved to Richville where in March 21, 1890 he died.

I also noticed that Martha Packer is listed in IGI as being born in Richfield which is Sevier Co. but since her older brother was born in Morgan Co. a year before, I'm pretty sure it is Richvale. I saw the one LDS church film listed for Richvale so I either will have to order it or check it whenever I get back to SL. I was hoping that an FHC in Morgan Co. would have it and maybe a volunteer would check it for me.

I should have also mentioned that the Richville ward records are available on microfilm from the LDS Family History Library. I checked at www.familysearch to see if there was anything in the IGI about Martha, and noticed that many of the records say she was born in Richfield, Morgan, Utah. Richfield is in central Utah. I'm pretty sure that you are looking for Richville, Morgan, Utah. Paula

You'll have to look at the records for each individual LDS ward I think. My ggrandmother was born in Richville in 1877, and I think that the ward records were the only ones available. Do you think the birth you're looking for might really be in Richville? Paula
