I'm trying to find information on my grandmother's real father. I know his name was Joseph Kiehl(spelling?) Shelton and had to be born around the turn of the century. My grandmother's name is Mary Jo Shelton & her mother was Elma Allred. I know he died in some type of boating accident and that he married a woman from SLC and may have had other children.

I would really like to find a picture of her father to show her.

This year is the 150th anniversary of LDS Pionner Elizabeth Russell Archibald's immigration to Utah.

Many people in Utah and Idaho are descended from Thomas and Elizabeth (Russell) Archibald. Thomas Archibald died in Scotland but Elizabeth Russell Archibald came to Wellsville with several of her children. Some went to Idaho and some went to Canada.

A family reunion for all descendants of Elizabeth Russell Archibald is being planned for Saturday, Sept 8, 2012 at the Wellsville, Utah bowery by cousin Brandon Sundeen. He is planning games for the younger children, sharing of family history info for the adults, followed by a memorial service at the Wellsville Cemetery. Food is POT LUCK. Bring your own lunch and all will share what they bring.

If you have any family heirlooms, photos, letters, etc.. pertaining to Elizabeth Russell Archibald or her immediate family, please bring them for viewing.

For more details contact Brandon Sundeen. Phone: 503-396-2178 OR email: brandonsundeen@gmail.com

Please help us get the word out. Pass this information on to all of your extended family so that they may attend if they are interested.

obit. David Alfred JOY (1937-2011) - West Jordan, Utah
David Alfred Joy 1937 ~ 2011 David Alfred Joy, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend peacefully passed on to his eternal home on April 22, 2011, he was surrounded by his family. David was born July 11, 1937 in Winter Harbor, Maine to Theodore Roosevelt and Queenie Jesse Joy. David married Cherri Watts January 1969; their marriage was solemnized in the St. George Temple. David loved his country and served for 20 years as a member of the Unites States Air Force, he is a Vietnam veteran. David's life was spent in service to his family, his country, and friends, and to the Lord with whom he had a special relationship. He was always positive and warm-hearted; he had a generous and loving heart always putting the needs of others before his own. He loved being outdoors in nature fishing and hunting, but what he loved most was the time he spent fishing and camping with his grandchildren and family. David was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as an elders quorum president, bishop, high councilor and 25 years as a Stake Patriarch. At the time of his passing he was the Stake Patriarch for the Copperhills Stake, West Jordan, Utah. We know, quite simply, that the world is a better place because Dave lived in it. May we remember what he taught us through his loving example and the words he spoke. His spirit will always be with us and his love will live forever in our hearts, until we meet again. David is survived by his wife, Cherri Watts Joy, five children, Jodi Joy (Robert) Winter, Tracy Joy, David Taft (Patti) Joy, Denise Joy, and Benjamin Alfred (Nicole) Joy; 11 grandchildren; and a sister Jean Rosenbluth. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Theodore R. Joy Jr. and nephew Douglas Chambers. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 28, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the Copper Hills 7th Ward Chapel, 9227 S. Wild Clover Ln., West Jordan, Utah. Friends may call on Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley, 1007 W. South Jordan Pkwy. (10600 So.) and on Thursday at the church one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the KANOSH CITY CEMETERY, KANOSH, UTAH.
I hope this address is still valid, I am interested in receiving this information as well. Orange Warner is my 4xgreat-grandfather.

I am descended from he & Delilah Robison's daughter Cornelia Elizabeth Warner, who first married John Ray in 1862 then Joseph Smith Prisbrey after John died. I am struggling to find when the Prisbrey/Warner marriage took place but believe it was in Millard Co around 1866.

Best,
Nikki Dettmar

In a letter 1879) from Mary Jane Stockdale to George, her brother, she tells that William, their oldest brother, is receiving a pension from the police force and does a bit of painting. In a later letter, (1884) Wm. asks George for a bit of money as he unable to work and is living in Fulham Union Workhouse in London. He has a daughter Ellen (Copeland?) living in Hammersmith, London at that time, and his 18 yr old son (Stephen ?) is living in Canada. Does this info jive with yours? What else can you share?

We will have to exchange adresses, then send the information to each other.
I have a very early printout (1828) where Hannah has been appealing on behalf of her Brother in Law - Joseph. He was trying to claim poor relief and Hannah went in front of the magistrates on his behalf. It is only a very short paragraph but there is much information. I think that she may have been able to read and right. I could identify with her straight away, I could just see her rolling up her sleeves and saying that "she would sort it out!. Just like many women in the family today.

Thanks, it was great to hear from you. I am just trying to sort out all the paperwork, how do we manage to accumulate so much paper?!!
Stephen was George's nephew. It would be marvelous to have more information,we have quite a story to tell between us.
When my Grandfather sent an equiry to the newpaper in Filmore, I think that he would be trying to tell his brother that Grandfather was now married and had just become a Father for the first time.
I am awaiting Stephen's birth certificate, it may not have the correct Mother's name on it, I will have to wait and see.I hold a copy of the death certificate of Jemima Greenaway in London and the informant was my Granfather then living in Thornaby on Tees.
Stephen's Father - William, was a Victorian Policeman in the metropolitan district of London. We can trace decendants in the family who are also policeofficers. One being present day in London.

I am not sure why I haven't been alerted to these responses before, but am so excited to learn more about these families! How is the best way to share your info with me? I have been transcribing letters written to George from his sister, Mary Jane, in England, as well as a few from Stephen, his nephew in Ontario, and Maggie, a niece. Dates range from 1884 to 1914. Info on Hannah has been extremely hard to verify, so I am sincerely pleased to read of your success.

The dates don't seem to jive for me. . .Georgia Greenway, my grandmother, was born in 1895, only child of Geo. Greenway & Annetta Steele (whose parents were Thomas & Mary Ann Steele); she had a sister Elizabeth Steele who married an Ashman. Does this connect with you in any way?

I would be most interested in copies of your info on George Greenway, my great grandfather. Please let me know if this is possible. Georgia was George's only child and Georgia, my grandmother, has considerable posterity of whom I have info.

I would be most gratified to receive anything you have regarding these family members. I have a few letters from Stephen to my great grandfather, George, written in 1885 when he was in Ontario, I believe it indicates Oakville, difficult to read in pencil. Stephen mentions his brother Bill is married and sending Mrs. Copeland a letter. I don't know anything about these two individuals other than that. Stephen mentions working on a farm, familiar with horses, etc. as was George.
