Thomas Mills of Leigh Lancashire UK born 1872 and of Sunyside Carbon Utah around 1907 was employed in the mines. Any information on the mining industry during this time to cause him to move his family from England would be of interest.

I just came across this post regarding Charlotte Alvord Curtis Elliot. My husband is ggg grandson of Lyman Curtis. There is a great possibility that these Webbers are related to me. I am currently researching the Webber family tree and have noticed that many entries in the 1800's have recorded the family births, deaths and marriages as being in the Neath locality or even in Breconshire when in fact they have lived in the Llansamlet area of Swansea - some miles away.

I am looking for an obit on my great uncle Joseph Graves Menzies. He was born 12 Sep 1900 in Schofield. His father Joseph Graves was killed in the Schofield Mine Diaster. His mother my great grandma married Robert Buchanan Menzies and Joseph was raised by him. His mothers names was Margaret Ann Morris. He died 8 March 1985 in Salt Lake. I remember my grandma had a reunion in Mt Pleasant and two of his sons came to it. Any info would be helpful

I'm looking for information on Theodore STRONG who lived in Spring Glen and died 24 Apr 1939. He was supposed to have been a newspaper owner for 35 years at that time.

Does anyone have any idea what newspaper that was? I would love to have his obituary to track down the rest of his siblings.

Theodore was born in Detroit and married Thomasian Cuthbertson in 1915 in Colorado. They were in Utah by 1922.

Information on Sheriff Fowler Pleasant Valley Junction/Colton

I am looking for someone related to Sheriff Fowler of Utah County, Utah. He was a deputy sheriff in Provo, Utah in the 1880's and then a sheriff for Pleasant Valley Junction, Utah. Pleasant Valley Junction later became known as Colten. It is very close to Carbon County so I thought I would post on this sight.

My great great grandfather, Frank Hoover worked with him as Deputy Sheriff in Pleasant Valley Junction from about 1886-1890.

I have found numerous articles in the Provo newspapers about the two of them. The last mention on Frank is in December 1889.

He just disappeared. I don't know if he was fired or quit his job. I am hoping someone in the Fowler family might have journals or some account of Sheriff Fowlers life. It's a long shot, but hoping there is some mention of what became of my great great grandfather.

I can find no death record on him. He was married to Olive Pace. They had 3 daughters; Kate, Ruby Maude and Nellie Pearl. Ruby and Nellie (twins) were born August 1889.

Did you see the death cert. on line for John ? it states he was born in Joplin Missouri Oct 26 1890 His wife Emma May Squires MacFarlane was the informant, he was a miner in the Canyon Springs coal mine at the time of his death.

I have found a little info about Janet Wilson Menzies, She was granted a divorce from Robert Menzies, It was published in the Eastern Utah Advocate newspaper Feb 21 1901, all it states was that a divorce granted to Robert Menzies by district court.
She is also listed on the 1900 census in Coalville Utah, as head of household with her 6 children, it states she came to usa with three oldest children in 1887 from Scotland - gave birth to 8 kids with 6 living.

Her death date is listed as OCT 1901 On the LDS Family search site.
I found her listed in two Park City news paper in a article called "30 years ago". it list divorce being granted 30 years ago in the first one i (just that one line,)

Another article in this same paper for the following month, has the following article in there "30 years ago " section. this paper was dated Feb 5 1932: " Mrs Jessie
(Janet) McRae Formerly Mrs Menzies died at Scofield last Sunday. The remains were brought to Coalville tues night for burial,and the funeral was held at the Stake Tabernacle yesterday afternoon. Deceased was a resident of this place for many years, moving with her husband to Scofield about three years ago. A year ago she secured a divorce from MR Menzies and later married William McRae."( end of article)

Roberts death certificate on line, list him as a widower that was married to a Janette Wilson Menzies. I am sure that should be Janet as her maiden name was Wilson .

RB Menzies(b : 13/05/1857) was the elder brother of my great grandfather( TRM). Their father was RB Menzies (1825-1899)
Your great grandfather immigrated to Utah around 1885/88 I believe.

I heard news that a great-aunt of mine died in or near Carbondale, UT. Her name was Carlota Trujillo Marques(z). She would have been 104 years old. I am searching for an obituary or some kind of confirmation of her death, as relatives cannot be reached. She was living with her daughter Gloria Marquez. Thanks! Yes, I have been working on this for several years. I have researched Census records, but still am searching for a marriage record for my great grandparents. I've searched Census, have ordered records from the LDS Church, have looked at homesteading records, Rootsweb, Familysearch, etc...Just stuck right now in finding an actual record as to who my ggrandfather's family is. There were several Ignacio Gallegos' in the 1880's, and though I THINK I know who his family was, I need the actual proof.

Thanks for your help with this. I wish we had been told of Tia Carlota's death. I tried to reach one of her son's last week, but he never called me back.

Yes, from talking to family members, I think that Betty would be related somehow to my Great Aunt Carlota Marques. In working on my family's genealogy we came across the info. (just over the last 3 years) that we had a great Aunt in Utah. My sister went to see her last year, but as of that time, we have not been able to communicate with her or her family much.

Carlota Marques was adopted by my great grandparents in 1904, I think. She lived with my great grandmother until she married Mike Sepulveda in about 1919. She then married a cousin of my fathers, Fares Marques. My parents remember her fondly. However, Tia Carlota was our only real link to my great grandparents. We've not been able to figure out who my great grandfather's (Ignacio Gallegos) family was.

If you could get me the information on her death, dates, place, etc., It would be greatly appreciated. Also, if you have a close link with this family, perhaps you could help with photos, or info? Thanks for your reply.

I have recently completed indexing marriage records for Carbon County up to the year 1966. The marriage for Emma was not found in Carbon County during that period of time.

Marriage look up

Looking for someone who would be willing to do a marriage lookup. Not even sure if there is one but that could be the reason I can't find my grandmother. The name is Emma May Squire MacFarlane the time frame is 1927 to 1930. Her Husband John Kennith MacFarlane died in Price Jan 30, 1927. As of that date she has vanished until her Death date June 2, 1930 was listed in the Family History Library but no other info. She had lived in Spring Cayon (Storrs) with her husband and son Kenneth Raymond when her husband died. They were all from Pueblo, CO but can't find her there either.

Thank you Melba, I did find all that info but according to his WW1 draft regestration he was born in St. Joseph, MO. It's just after his death I can't find anything on her except the church record that says she died 2 june 1930.

I am planing a trip to Carbon County sometime this summer. It's just my grandmother on my Dad's side seems to have dropped off the face of this earth after my grand dad died in 1927. LDS records say she died 2 of June 1930 but no one knows where. Emma and John MacFarlane lived in Spring Cayon (Storrs)when he died and had worked "about the camps of Carbon District" for a considerable time. The Price paper at that time said he was buried in Helper but he was buried in Price.
Anyway thanks for the direction.

I believe I know who you are talking about, Does Gloria Have a daughter Betty Rampa? If so yes Her grandma passed away and Betty had to take care of the arrangements as she did for her dad. I can't remember if cindy told me when she died but I will try to call her tomorrow and ask. I don't have Betty's phone number. That was Carbonville by the way. I tried looking in the sun advocate archives but couldn't find an Obit. I know she was cremated, possibly through Mitchell Furnal Home in Price, UT.
