This year is the 150th anniversary of LDS Pioneer Elizabeth Russell Archibald's immigration to Utah.

Many people in Utah and Idaho are descended from Thomas and Elizabeth (Russell) Archibald. Thomas Archibald died in Scotland but Elizabeth Russell Archibald came to Wellsville with several of her children. Some went to Idaho and some went to Canada.

A family reunion for all descendants of Elizabeth Russell Archibald is being planned for Saturday, Sept 8, 2012 at NOON at the Wellsville, Utah bowery by cousin Brandon Sundeen. He is planning games for the younger children, sharing of family history info for the adults, followed by a memorial service at the Wellsville Cemetery. Food is POT LUCK. Bring your own lunch and all will share what they bring.

If you have any family heirlooms, photos, letters, etc.. pertaining to Elizabeth Russell Archibald or her immediate family, please bring them for viewing.

For more details call or email Brandon Sundeen. Phone: 503-396-2178 email: brandonsundeen@gmail.com

Please pass this information on to all of your extended family so that they are aware and have the option of attending if interested.

I now live in Vancouver Washington, right across the Columbia River from Portland Oregon. My grandparents lived right on main street, I am guessing somewhere about 600 S. The 1940 Census should be out and that will give a clue. I just called my mother to see if she knew, but she was not home. I will keep trying.
Bob

Thanks so much! I think this is a more extensive article than the one origially mentioned, so this is great. I'm not sure exactly which Outzens lived across from you - do you remember the dad's name? In any case, they were surely related to my family. Are you still in the Richfield area?
Thanks again for the article.

It's a subscription newspaper database and ancestry.com will not let me cite it. :(

BUT If you google historic newspapers, it's the tenth one.

There are over 900 references to Outzen in the database (but, of course, they might not all be related.)

The obit text is:

FORMER MAYOR OF RICHFIELD IS DEATH
Special Dispatch
Richfield, April 21 -- Lars H. Outzen, who served two terms as mayor here, is dead. His death followed an operation in Chicago last Thursday, according to information received by his family. Mr. Outzen was a native of Denmark and 64 years old. Many of Richfield's most helpful statutes were invoked through his instrumentality.
Salt Lake Telegram, 1920-04-23

Thanks for sending the Illinois Sec of State link. However, clicking on the link does not work for me, nor does copying and pasting or typing it myself.

I do have a copy of the death certificate that I found in my research, so perhaps the Illiois site wouldn't have anything further anyway. The reason I am especially interested in having an obituary is that I am curious why some sources say he died in St. Louis, MO, even though the death certificate is clearly from a physician attending him in Chicago. Also, I am trying to figure out whether or not he remained committed to the LDS church, as I had heard that he had a falling out with them. Just trying to fill in some blanks and solve a mystery or two! Thanks again.
Robin

If Mary was a sister to Anna Eliza I believe her father was George Robinson born about 1793 from Louisiana and her mother was Mary B. McCarroll born about 1795 and also from Louisiana.

I believe that I have the information that you are looking for: I found James Leonard Thompson married to Laverda A. Wiley on 10 November 1923, in Greenville, Beaver, Utah. Her birth date listed is: 15 July 1903 in Circleville, Piute, Utah. The death date listed for her is: 21 October 1968 in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah. The burial place listed for her is: East Lawn Memorial Hills, Provo City, Utah, Utah. Mr. Thompson died in Los Angeles, Los Angeles, California. He was buried in his home town of: Greenville, Beaver, Utah. There was a son listed for them, but the name for him varied slightly. The name listed was: Raymond Leon (Smith or Thompson). Laverda's second husband was listed as: John Lougy Smith. There is a whole lot of other family listed for the couple as far as parents, grandparents, great grandparents, and so on. For instance, the parents of James are: James Thompson and Josephine Dalley. The parents of the James Thompson I just gave you are: William Theodore Thompson Sr. and Susannah Allen. Josephine's parents are: James Hillman Dalley and Catherine Melissa Hulet. Laverda's parents are: Robert Andrews Wiley and Sarah Ann Geneva Dutson. Robert's parents are: James Darling Wiley and Frances Gates. Sarah Ann's parents are: John William Dutson and Caroline Geneva Jenkins. There is more information going farther back, if you don't already have it. I found the information on the new site of the LDS church. The site is: (newfamilysearch.org) My email is: rkross2@msn.com. Good Luck with your research. Richard

More information about the man would be helpful, since there are several people listed with the same name. The birth date of the man, place of birth, other family members such as wife, and date of marriage would be helpful. I did find a George W. Sidwell born in 1876, married to Clara Gidney born in 1872. Date of marriage is 30 May 1902 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was born in Manti, Sanpete, Utah. She was born in Brigham City, Box Elder, Utah. I haven't found the date of death for this man. Another man, George William Sidwell, listed in the Ancestral File record of the LDS church web site, has his birth date as 13 January 1889. He was born in Nephi, Juab, Utah. He died, according to record, 3 August 1965. He was married to Lois Orilla Ewers. His father was Job Robinson Sidwell, and his mother was Rachael Sarah Wilkes. There is more information on this last man's family tree if he is the person you were referring to. I hope this helps you in your research. My email is: rkross2@msn.com if you need the rest of the family tree.
Good Luck, Richard

On a web site entitled "Western States Marriages", for the groom, I typed in Walter Thompson. It states that he married a Ruby Bentley on the date that you gave. Other information listed was an ID number for the marriage: ID#505278, his age (24) at the time, his residence: Beaver City, Beaver County, Utah. For Ruby her age(26) at the time, her residence: Parowan City, Iron County, Utah. County & State of record for the marriage was Wasatch County, Utah. The Certificate number listed is: #1560, Page 76, volume C. Good Luck with your research. Richard
(A story about the accident or his obit might show up in the Salt Lake paper)

I lived in Milford until I was five and the farm land south of town was called the Milford Flats (or just the Flats); so I would say that the farm land as you go into Beaver from the west on the road from Minersvill and Greenville would also be called the Beaver Flats.

I'm looking for an obit for Frieda Mae Wood who died on January 15, 1988 in Minersville. For that time period, in what newspaper would I be most likely to find an obit for someone from Minersville? Thanks.

Hi Foots49,
only just back from a trip to Utah, I have a photo of William T Thompson & Susan Allen, I believe they had 13 children and I have photos of three of them Rosetta, William T jnr, & Lawrence. I also have the death certificate for William T Thompson who died Jan 10 1911.
I have photos of the head stones for both William & Susan which I took on my recent trip to Greenville. If you want any of this info please e-mail me on Greg.1962@tiscali.co.uk and I'll send them as attachments, I also have a census return, 1841, for Williams parents David & Ann.
Look forward to hearing from you,
Greg
