Johann Georg Schwartz II was born May 18th, 1831, in Leimbach, Saxe-Meiningen (Germany) and immigrated to America around 1850. Shortly fter immigrating, he is said to have enlisted in the US Army where he was sent to nurse Yellow Fever patients in Texas from about 1850-1854. I’ve done a bit of research on Yellow Fever in Texas but I’m just curious if anyone happens to know if there were any specific areas that the Army focused their efforts on or if there is some other way to figure out exactly where he was in Texas during this time or what he was doing?
