just discovered my great great great grandfather was enumerated in the 1860 US Census. I'm pasting the information I have below in hopes of connecting with someone else tracing this lineage. I would love to find
Marin Perez's parents, of course. It is an unusual first name, I hope that is a valuable clue.
Marin
Perez is listed in the 1860 United States Census on page 317 as residing in San Antonio,
Bexar County,
Texas. His age was estimated as 22 years old, and his birth year is estimated as 1838. It says he was born in Mexico, but the
English speaking census worker probably listed any
Spanish speaker as being from Mexico. His two daughters are listed as born in
Texas.
Marin Perez’ occupation isn’t indicated, but every other head of household on the same page is listed as a farmer, so it is likely
Marin was also a farmer.
Marin
Perez in listed as illiterate, but that could mean only that he couldn’t read, or write in
English.
Guadalupe
Perez is enumerated in the 1860 US Census by her married name on page 317. Her age is estimated to be 20 years old, and date of birth estimated to be 1840, in Mexico.
Maria
Guadalupe Perez Hernandez at age one year old is enumerated in the 1860 US Census page 317 along with her parents,
Marin Perez and Maria
Guadalupe Hernandez, and two month old sister Marcela
