I am looking for any information on Alva Davis also known as Mrs. Thomas E Ward and her brother Wood Davis. Any help would be great especially if there are any desendants of the aboved named still alive I could talk to would be great I am a desendant of their brother William Jay Davis

May I make some suggestions? The surnames Davis and Ward are very common, so it would be helpful if you included some dates, or approximate dates, for those in your query.

I just took a quick look, since I had given name, maiden name and married name of Alva. Then I found date on a death record for an Alva Ward and went looking for her and Thomas on the 1900 census. The birth date of Feb 1880 matches the date on the 1900 census, this looke like your Alva. Dow and Harry are on the same census.

I find it interesting they both lived in Corpus Christi, but were buried in Sinton, San Patricio Co, TX. I would check that cemetery, see if any other family members are buried there. Also, look for their obituaries, you never know what will pop up in obits. Survivors are usually listed and a good way to find married names of female members of the family.

Best hope for living relatives will be one of the six daughters born to Louie Howard Ward and Naomi Anita Markham? Louie was Alva's grandson born to Harry O. Ward about 1926 in Taft, San Patricio, TX. An older sister, Elizabeth, was born about 1921 but no birth records listing her as the mother? Thomas Dow Ward Jr. died 2 Oct 1969 in Big Spring, Howard, TX with no birth registration(s). Wood Davis died 1 Nov 1940 in Greenville, Hunt, TX and was listed as divorced. His brother, your ancestor (Dr. William Jay Davis) was the informant. Interesting name "Wood"! Wonder if he was christened to honor his mother's surname? FYI. Delta County, TX was created 29 Jul 1870 from Hopkins and Lamar Counties. If you have not found Sarah L. Wood, search 1860 and 1870 Hopkins County for James Wood born about 1822 in Illinois. Interesting family you were born into! Father and son physicians, are/were there others? OBTW! I am not related.

Unable to verify if Thomas Dow Ward Jr. was an only child. In 1930 he was with his grandparents and aunt Christene in San Patricio-Sinton-District 1-Image 19. There is one birth record for Evelyn Gwendolyn Ward and Keith Schmidt in Nueces County. There are two births registered to Jennifer Anita Ward and Randall Dale Campbell in Harris County
