I don't know if you are still around or still need an answer but the 1900 census lists Robert E Baley as the son of James B and Mary E Baley.

James married Hildred Bay Wakefield in 1909 and the 1910 census does not list Robert as living with them. Nor does the 1920 or 1930 census.

The 1940 census shows R E Bailey living with J B and Hildred Bailey and lists him as the son of J B Bailey.

Kinda confusing but you're asking questions on two generations? The earlier generation: William H. Moore wed Mary Ann Hargis, 29 May 1843 in Floyd, GA. Census records are rarely consistent. However, seems William H. was born in Virginia while Mary Ann was born in South Carolina or North Carolina. (lol)Martha Alice Blanton probably favored "Alice" but she evidently had a two-part middle name? M. A. C. Blanton married W. H. Moore, 22 Nov 1885 in Johnson County. The earlier generation found: 1850 GA-Gordon-Division 12-Image 92, 1860 AL-Fayette-Middle Division-Image 54, and 1870 AL-Fayette-Township 15 Range 13-Image 6. I did not find a public family tree documenting their heritage. The ball is in your court and you can expect help researching. I'm not related!

I am trying to trace my ggg grandparents - William Hardin Moore and Mary Ann Hargis.
I have two death certificates (their children).
There seems to be conflicting details regarding the parents birth place.

W H Moore died 1920 Parker County - states parents W H Moore
and Miss Harges both born SOUTH CAROLINA?

G H Moore died 1934 Wilbarger County - states parents W H Moore and Mary Ann Hargis both born ALABAMA?

My paternal grandfather was Walter Homer Moore born Parker
1890 and died Parker 1972. His parents are listed as W H Moore and Alice Blanton. On some census info Alice Blanton is noted as Martha Alice Blanton and on others Alice Blanton! I think she may have preferred to use Alice?

I am no expert at researching and hope someone maybe able to help me. Thankyou

Yes, Martha Ellen Hopkins Smith was probably called Mattie. Her daughter Frances (Fannie) Smith was named after Martha Ellen's sister, Fannie Hopkins Lovett (b 1865). Fannie Smith married Sam Brown and their daughter, Mattie Velma Brown Yoes, was my husband's mother.

Hello

Thanks for the info, but I have since discovered that the Pearl V. Powell I was searching for was born in October, 1903 and died in January, 1984. She married fours times - to Leonard TRAVERS, Clifford A. HAYMAN, John L. KLEIN, and Neale E. EDGAR. So far as I can determine, she never was in Texas.

It takes time and effort, but if you are patient you can usually find what you are looking for.

Again, thanks for your efforts.

Harry Wyatt,
Perkasie, PA

I too have a family member who is rumored to have been killed in an Indian Raid on his way into Weatherford around the same time. I have been looking for years! I have went to Parker County, bought several books, etc. The best thing that helped was books.google.com has a search site for Double Log Cabin other Parker Co. books. My relative was listed there in Parker County's citizens who were entered into the Lamb's Book of Life. If you do find anything, please let me know. Thank you!
You can contact cemetery association and inquire about placing a memorial stone for Lucy A Smith Morgan. It is not a very large cemetery and it appears that the stones regarding the Smith's and Morgan's were all done about the same time with simple markers, names with birth years and death years. - I am not related.

groom's name: H.
If she died in 1901 there wouldn't be a death certificate as the State of Texas wasn't required to keep records of death before 1907. Even then some of the records before 1935 are spotty.

Eliza Veach was the third wife of Isaac Teter and the Barker family referred to her as Grandma Teter, she is also buried in Clark cemetery in a now lost grave site. EB

A little info on your famillies. Sarah Jane Watkins was the dau. William J.A. Watkins and Elizabeth Teter. The dau. of Isaac Teter and Susannah Greene. Eliz. sister was Sarah Teter, mar. to James Richard Brown. Eliz. is wife of James Henry Tate in 1870 with Tate and Watkins children These people are all living in the same community north of Weatherford. John Godfrey was married to Angeline ? in 1849 Layfatte Do. Mo. Most of the Barker families are also there in 1850. One researcher said she was dau. of Joseph Barker, it is possible they were married in 1830, Angeline is only found on the 1850census. That would make her sister to James J. Barker and his brothers here in Parker Co. James J. Barker is mar. to Ann Eliza Veach, some times noted as Teter, but she was the third wife of Isaac Tetert. The Teter, Browns, Norris, Elkins families all came to Par. Co. in mid to late 1850s,from Mason Co. Ill. I am also a descendant of Isaac Teter and Susannah Greene.James M. Francis, I no more info than you do, but I will recheck my files. Evlyn Broumley/

My great great grandfather was James Madison Francis, the second child born in Parker County, 27 Jun 1856, probably at Veal Station. His father is listed on his death certificate as A L Francis, and his mother as "Miss Barker".

I cannot find either J M Francis or A L Francis on the 1860 census. James M was living with the John W. Godfrey family in 1870, then later went on to marry my great great grandmother (Sarah Jane Watkins) and have his family.

Can anybody help me with the circumstances surrounding his birth. Could his mother be Angeline Barker Godfrey (John W's wife and Joseph Barker's daughter)? Also, I have seen the name "Leftwich Francis" on lists of early county settlers. Could this be A L Francis?

Thank you in advance for any answers, or pointing me in the right direction!

Al

My question was so obscure, I figured only an historical association would have any chance of answering it; however, I think I answered it myself.

Long story long, my ancestor was buried there in 1910. I saw a picture online of his grave and the headstone is pretty impressive. He's the only relative I have hit a wall with trying to trace, so I thought maybe there was a remote chance I could find out who paid for it, as his wife certainly couldn't have afforded it.

I've since surmised that it had to have been his wife's brother. I've also seen more pictures of the cemetery and it appears many of the headstones from that period are substantial. I figure someone in town may have been a stone mason or because it was on a stagecoach route they were able to get a good deal. :-)

who are you looking for in the cemetery? My suggestion is to contact one of the funeral homes in the area, White's or Gilbreaith-Pickard and see if they can give you a name and phone number of someone who is caring for the cemetery.

Larkin's first wife was Malinda Stark. Malinda was the mother of Addison, Logan and Christopher. Larkin is my gggg grandfather. I have recently met (on ancestry) and have been in contact with my 6th cousin from Larkin's 2nd wife. I myself, still piecing things together in my spare time. I do have quite a bit of information that you may be looking for. I been given a terrific book about my family. Here is the direct line. My father Jerry Beck, grandfather - Albert Addison Beck. Gg grandfather, John Beck. Ggg grandfather - Logan Beck. Gggg Grandfather - Larkin Beck. Ggggg grandfather - Nathaniel Beck. I think I have it back tracked to a Henry Beck that immigrated from England back in 1635. I'm almost possitive that's right. Still researching. Please let me know if I can fill in any blanks...

I am researching the family of Larkin Beck who came to Parker County in 1858 with his three sons, Addison, Logan and Christopher. Larkin purchased 160 acres of land in Parker County on the Hood County line (abstract A-510)in 1859 from George W. Gilpin. All three sons were conscripted into the Confederate Army. Larkin took a wife in Texas, unknown, unknown. Logan escaped the Confederacy and joined the Union Army in Illinois where they originally came from. Christopher eventually went back to Illinois after the war. Both Larkin and Addison pledged their allegiance to the United States in 1967 then show up in Arkansas in the 1870 Census. Addison went on to be be a Deputy U.S. Marshall and was killed in the line of duty in Indian Territory. Larkin and Addison are both buried in Arkansas. Christopher learned to survey under R.A. Hawkins in Parker County. I am trying to learn any other information regarding the Beck's time in Parker County to include Larkin's wife's family, family stories etc...

Everett Family and Glass-Making in Parker County

My Everett ancestors appear in the 1880 census in Parker County, with occupation "glassblower." Can anyone provide information about the glass-making industry in this area?

The Everett family was probably there a relatively short time, as they were in Ohio in 1870 and Indiana in 1900--always involved in the glass industry.

I just found a possible record (Ft. Smith Criminal Case files), that gives a date of 1885. I requested a copy, so I'm hoping it's the right person. I believe it happened in Parker County (near Veal Station I think, but am not sure), that's where my grandfather owned property. Thank you for responding!

can you tell us where the murder occurred and when? 1880 to 1920 is a big span of years. There are newspapers from about 1900 to 1920 for Weatherford, but nothing before that time.
