Classification: Query
Surnames: Adams, Haney, Sheen, Poole, Toler, Gossett, Davies, Wolf
My gggrandfather Henry Adams b. abt 1808 in Carolinas-d. abt 1842 in Ark married 1830 St. Clair Co., ALA to my gggrandmother Susan Haney. They moved to Arkansas along with their son my ggrandfather John Quincy Adams (wife Mary Sheen), son William Adams, daughter Martha Caroline Adams (husbands: Harrison Poole & Robert Toler)and daughter Susan Adams (b.1842 ARK-prob. died bef 1860).

After Henry Adams died Susan Haney (d. bef 1860 TX) md 2nd James H. Sewell (b. 1818 Carolinas-d. TX or in Civil War) and she had more chilren James Sewell (md Sarah Gossett, he was killed by Indians in Kimball Co., TX) and Nathan Sewell b. 1848 died abt. 1850 Union Co., Louisiana.

My Adams and my Sewell families are found 1854-1856 in Tarrant Co., TX and 1856-1859 in Parker Co., TX along with my John Sheen & Mary Davies Sheen's family (the parents of my Mary Sheen wife of John Quincy Adams). In the 1860 TX census you find that everyone had left Parker County for the Civil War or moved to other counties.

I have been able to find most everyone in other census in other counties, but I've been unable to find William ADAMS (b. 1837 ARK, my John Quincy's brother). There was only 1 Adams family in the 1860 Parker Co., TX census, but it has the male as 37 ARK (b. 1823) and it was hard to read with only initials.

I've visited the Parker County, TX genealogical room in the library, but wasn't able to find very much on my Sheens, Adams, and Sewell families.

Could the William Adams found in the 1880 Brown Co., TX be my ggguncle? My ggggrandfather John Sheen and family were in the 1860 Census in Brown County, Texas before moving to Menard County, TX. I found my William Adams in Tarrant & Parker Cos. in TX, but I can't find him aft 1859.

The 1880 Brown County, TX census has:
William Adam 45 (b. 1835 ARK)stone mason
Doxlena J. Adams 45 (b. 1835 Mississippi)
Mary E. Adams 19 b. TX
Irwin Adams 18 b. TX
Maggie J. Adams 11 b. TX
Allie Adams (f) 1 b. TX

Some researcher say that this 1880 Brown Co., TX is their William Adams' (b. 1837 ARK and 1st wife Louisa _?_ & children: Sarah, Charles, and Sevilla Adams) 2nd family.

I need to find a William Adams researcher who can either prove that the William Adams in the Brown Co., TX 1880 is their William Adams (son of Matthew Adams & Priscilla Catherine Wolf) or my William Adams (son of Henry Adams & Susan Haney).

Any help would be appreciated,
April Kyle Bladh
