Mattie L Gipson was born in 1924 in Van Zandt County to Jon Wesley Gipson and Vera L Savage. She was listed in the 1930 Census but that's the last I could find of her knowing it WAS her. I found a couple of Mattie Gipson's that married in the later part of the 1800's but they were in Hunt and another county. I also found a Mattie Gipson had passed away in Van Zandt County in August of 1938. I'd like to see if anyone in Van Zandt knows of this Gipson family and what happened to them. Did Mattie marry? She had a younger brother named John born in 1926. I can find nothing on him. Any help would be wonderful.

That couple had Barbara Louise Williams (15 Mar 1940 - 12 Jul 1940) and Ivan Ray Williams (17 Jul 1953-Van Zandt). John Wesley Gipson Jr. and Margie Ruth Hill had Pamela Sue Gipson (5 Feb 1961-Van Zandt), Steven Wesley Gipson (3 Nov 1962-Tarrant), and Lisa Kay Gipson (16 Jan 1966-Van Zandt). The third child from the 1930 census was possibly Peggy Jean Gipson? She wed Coolidge D. Shivers and had Janis D. Shivers (5 Jan 1954-Van Zandt) and Coolidge D. Shivers, Jr. (31 Jan 1957-Van Zandt). Billie Frances Gipson (24 Oct 1933-Van Zandt) and Nancy Lee Gipson (4 Jan 1942-Van Zandt) were also born to John Wesley and Vera Lee Gipson. Billie Frances Gipson and Troy Brandon Gilliam had Troy Lynn Gilliam (8 Nov 1953-Van Zandt). Billie Frances Gipson and W. A. Halcomb had Amy Elizabeth Halcomb (21 Jul 1970-Van Zandt). Nancy Lee Gipson and Tony Royce Etheridge had Tony Lynn Etheridge (23 Dec 1960-Van Zandt) and Nanolyn Gail Etheridge (2 Jan 1963-Van Zandt). John Wesley Gipson (5 Sep 1899 - 13 Oct 1963) died when dynamite exploded in his hand. His parents were Decalve G. Gipson (1 Dec 1868 - 30 Sep 1957) and Lizzie (Foshee) Gipson (16 Mar 1876 - 23 Dec 1950). The father identified on census reports as "Dick" and/or "Richard". The death certificate was witnessed by son Richard so....? Is this enough info? If not, John Wesley Sr. had brothers and sisters.......!

Are your guns smoking? I have a lot of the family already accounted for but you definitely opened up a whole new "bag of worms" to sort through! I've used the FamilySearch many times in the past but for some reason I didn't in this case. Memory isn't as sharp as it used to be I guess. I too subscribe to Ancestry.com. Vera Lee died with the last name of Gipson in 2006. I did find her Social Security Death Index but that was it. I didn't think she had divorced John Wesley but then again...I haven't really dug too deep. There are a lotf of surprises I've discovered over the past 12 years of research.
