I am researching a NEWMAN family that was in Van Zandt in 1880 & poss. around 1856 & lived close to Edgewood.
William C. B. NEWMAN b. 1829 AR d. 1900 TX, buried in Dumont, King Co., TX md. 3 times: Leauretta Daugger,
Mary E. Beauchamp, Mary E. Thomason. Children were: John Drury, Samuel Frank, Harriett, James Victor &
John Drury was md. to Loretta Wiggins bef. 1879 in Van Zandt Co. and he md. Rebecca Franks Harper in 1882. Shortly thereafter they moved to Cottle Co. Rebecca died in 1894 and he md. Rebecca Long Thornton.
Wm. C. B. Newman moved to Cottle Co. sometime before 1900. He is buried in the Dumont Cem., King Co., TX which was near the farm that John Drury had in Cottle Co.
W.C.B. & all his boys were listed on the 1900 Witchita Co., TX census. Apparently, they were there to sell cattle as they were listed as stock raisers.
W.C.B. also had a brother in TX: Nathaniel Warren NEWMAN b. 1828 AR d. aft. 1900 prob. Kaufman Co. md. Sarah E. Thomason and Nancy E. Daugherty. Children: Julia Ann, Martha F., Joseph W., William Jefferson, Mary E., Nancy J., James C., Elizabeth E., John P. & Bell V.
Nathaniel Warren was on the 1850 Cherokee Co. census with another family, 1860 with his family (which included John Drury & Samuel F.....W.C.B. had enlisted)in Cherokee Co., 1870 Henderson Co., 1880 & 1900 Kaufman Co.
I would appreciate any help on this family, as I have hit a brickwall!
