Dr. S. P. Willson was one of the five doctors listed in the 1850 census of Tyler County and the other five being Josiah Wheat, James H. Martin, Marcus Ragan and John Work.

Dr. Willson bought an eight acre tract of land in Peach Tree Village from J. M. McQueen on September 4, 1857 which he conveyed to his daughter Mrs. Mary Emily West. Dr. S. P. Willson located his office and store on this eight acre tract of land and maintained it until his death. Dr. Willson had two sons who achieved some distinction; Hiram A. Willson who bought a farm in Peach Tree Village and resided there on or near there until his death. He was a member of the Constitutional Convention in 1876 which wrote the present Constitution of Texas.

Another son, Samuel Andrew Willson, was the outstanding frontier lawyer whose biography is contained in the 1859 issue and other issues of this bulletin. The other children Dr. S. P. Willson and wife were Emily Willson, who married Henry West (later county Judge of Tyler County and with Emily father of S. P. West, later District Judge of the District) Julia Willson, who married G. W. Payne; Almira, who married Dan R. Smith. All of these children came to Tyler County with Dr. Willson and settled around Peach Tree Village. They are survived by many heirs some of whom are still living in Tyler County. A son of Samuel Andrew Willson was Judge S. P. Willson, one of the original members of the Court of Civil Appeals for the Texasrkana District.
