I am researching James Silas Thomas in Titus county. Do you know if he fits in with any of the names you mentioned. He and his family lived in Mt. Pleasant. His first child was born in 1872.

Thank you

Are you researching Susannah Berry Williams that married George Washington Williams in Orange County, Indiana. I am interested in these people because of the Berry surname. I have some information on them.

If your Summerlins were around Winfield, you will probably find they moved there from Cass Co TX, possibly to help build the railroad.

Hi James,

Are you related to the Garrett Young family that came to Titus Co. with the Joseph Salmon and Alex Brown families from Missouri? If so, I would like to correspond with you about your Young family, and/or the Brown family. The Salmon, Young, and Brown families are supposed to be related to each other in some way.

I am descended from Joseph Salmon and his 1st wife, Sarah. Joseph acquired a 3rd Class landgrant from the Republic of Texas in 1839, but his family remained in Pettis Co. MO from 1836 until about 1848.

My great grandfather was Oscar Alexandra Brown, who married Rhoda Caroline Lane around 1888 in Titus County. Alex's father was James Madison Brown, and I believe his mother's name was Margaret. My grandmother believes that his family (James) came to Titus County from Missourri, but not sure when. James Madison Brown had a brother named John H.D. Brown. Both brothers fought in the Civil War in the 11th Regiment, Company I (Young's Cavalry). Not sure of any other siblings. Rhoda Caroline Lane was from Titus County as well. Caroline had 4 sisters, Sally and Lara, and the other two I believe were half sisters but not sure. She also had 2 half brothers, Carl and Milton. Alex and Caroline had a total of 13 children. From oldest to youngest: Walter, Sara Leona, Bascom Dudley, Ollie Margaret, Oscar Harmon, Harris Madison, Rosco NMN, Lillian Darkos, Ruth Carr, Vivian Opal, Mamie Ida, and Francis Lorene. My grandmother, Ruth (Ruthy) Carr Brown/Mills, was number 10 in that line. If you have any information about James' other children or parents I would love to hear from you!!!!!

My g grandfather was Oscar Alexandra Brown of Titus County. His father was James Madison Brown originally from Missourri, who married Margaret (?)from Virginia (my grandmother thinks). I think James father might have been Dr. Alexander Brown from Missourri. I don't know anything about him as of yet. James had atleast one brother named John, and I think Dr. Brown might have too. James and his brother John were both privates during the Civil War in the 11th Regiment, Company I of Titus County. If you think you have a connection to this family, have any information, ro know that I have some incorrect information I would love to hear from you. You can email me at abmchugh_99@yahoo.com .
