Lucia
Martinez, 78, of
Brownfield went home to be with her sweet Jesus on Friday, June 19, 2009 in
Brownfield. Services were held Tuesday, June 23 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church with Father Gerald
Leatham officiating. Burial was in
Brownfield Cemetery under the direction of
Brownfield Funeral Home. Rosary was held Monday, June 22 at
Brownfield Funeral Home.
Lucia was born December 30, 1930 in
Karnes City to
Jacinto and Francisca
Garcia. She married Luis
Martinez on November 1, 1952 in
Karnes City. He preceded her in death in 1962. She then moved to
Brownfield in 1970.
She is also preceded in death by her son, Daniel Martinez; four sisters, Anita
Morin,
Salome Alaniz, Angelita
Alaniz and Maria
Villegas and four brothers,
Pablo Garcia,
Amador Garcia, Juan
Garcia and Suzano
Garcia. Lucia was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother and will be missed dearly by her family.
Lucia is survived by four daughters, Mary
Lira of
Sinton, Olga
Beltran, Janie
Franco and Linda
Garcia, all of Brownfield; four sons, David
Martinez, Joe
Martinez, Jimmy
Martinez and Johnny
Martinez, all of Brownfield; 31 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild and three brothers, Martin
Garcia of
Plains, Jesus
Garcia of Lamesa and
Gregorio Garcia of
Kansas.
